SIXAXIS ready to Rumble - Image 1

A fellow on the GameFAQs message boards who wishes to go by the name of "Gamesblowremake" alerts the Internet that the rumor section in the new PSM says that the a SIXAXIS with Immersion's rumble feature is going to be announced at E3 and is set to be released on November 13.

The rumor also says that Metal Gear's Hideo Kojima is asking for more time from Sony so that he can be able to implement both tilt sense and rumble into Metal Gear Solid 4.

While we only have Gamesblowremake's claim to go with, the rumor does seem plausible given the time it's taking for Metal Gear Solid 4 to finish, Sony and Immersion's settlement and their supposed new "rumble" project, and Sony's apparent focus on the fourth quarter of 2007 (recall PlayStation Home, the LittleBigPlanet demo, and other plans Sony has for that timeframe).

For the full thread on that GameFAQs message board (just in case you want to jump in and scream "Fake!"), feel free to head to it via our "read" link below.

How cool! I'm sure PS3 owners can't wait to throw away their old controllers and buy the new rumble ones.

» now we are talking!

omg! if this is true i will be so happy! rumble in the controller + SIXAXIS technology? But I do have some other ideas they could put in the control.

maybe they can change the control layout aswell, like make it fit more nice in the hands. They need to make the contol covered in thick leather. They also need to include a hand warmer so on cold days I can pick the contoller up. It would be a good idea to make the control out of a soft rubber so if you drop the control it wont snap like mplastic. They should add adjustable weights in the control just like the Logitech G5 mouse, so you can have a light or heavey control. The buttons need to have a backlight, so I can find my control in the dark. It needs to have a open slot in the back so I can change the battery if needs to be replaced. I think making the controll water proof will be good just incase you drop the control into a liquid, such as water, or some coke. They need to add a feature to find the contoll if it is lost, like you need to whistle and if the controll will beep. The controll needs a battery indicator to show how much charge is left. The controll needs to be charged wirelessly via WiFi/ blutooth/ infrared etc. The Sony logo on the control should be made of solid gold, aswell as the left, right, X,O etc buttons. The analog sticks should be super grippy. The control should absorb sweat of your hands, and turn that sweat into drinkable water so if your feeling thursty you can drink your sweat from the control and not get out of your seat. The control should not cause Carpal Tunnel. The control should have multiple coulours to choose from. The controller should have interchangable covers. The controller should cost $1. The control should reconize your type of hand and configue itself to the right settings you programed for it such as, the temperature of the control, how much rumble is felt in the control etc. They should make the control have a option to ejec the disk out of the ps3 system. You should be able to control all sony products with the Sony PS3 controll. The PS3 control should also work with the 360 console. They should make the control use alternative energy sorce incase the battery runs out, such as fuel, solar power etc. The should also be used at weights to gain muscle. There should be a mini screen built into the control so you can play your playstation 3 when not around the ps3, almost like a psp, but you can play ps3 games on the ps3 contoller. The PS3 controller should also have a alarmclock. It would also be nice if they added a flash light onto the controller if there is a blackout in your house with no electricity so you can see. The controller should be glow in the dark. Also, the controller should have a built in pocket knife. You should be able to make phone calls on the contoller. They should add a secret hiding spot in the controller so if you forget your keys, you can use your speare found in the contoller and did I mention the contoller should have a strap so you can wear it on your neck as a fasion accessory? The controll should also be able to start your car.

If they add rumble, I'll be happy, but if they can do all the other things I sugest, I will be more happy.

:)

I hope they have a trade in offer....

I know they won't though:(

» impossible

if sony do what you want on sixaxis then it cost 500%u20AC. And i want a simple sixaxis plus the rumble, nothing more.

by Itsblackmelop - 2007-05-25 02:48
» Hmmm.. what issue of PSM is this in?

Well I gotta say I have the psm mag so I want to know what issue of the mag it's in so i can give ya'll more detal but the part on MGS that's true about more time needed.

by liberator - 2007-05-25 03:07
» how they will announce it

I can just imagine it now, some hire up from Sony or even Hideo Kojima will be at E3 this year and go about talking about the backwards compatibility of the PS3. They would play MGS1 for an example that would be set during the Psycho Mantis fight where he talks about his powers. They would follow his instructions or walk off stage in a pretend fashion and put the sixaxis down on a table for everyone to see, and low and behold the controller rumbles for everyone to see.

» WTH

So why do the bloggers link to other forums rather than ours, it's in there. I see this too often and dont understand why it's not being stopped.

» Sued

Well it seams that Sony is still going down the poop shoot. Sony just got sued again, but this time for its blue ray discs. if you want to check it out its on www.gamerevolution.com

So long Sony, i hate you

» Don't count on it!

You definitely should not hold your breath for that one!

by sony - 2007-05-25 15:54
» we own the xbox 360

This is a sony executive and I just wanted to let you know that if we wanted to we could shut down Microsoft but if we did that there would be no more competition. Microsoft+small guys 4 years of fame and failure.....STUPID ASS CLOWNS!

-Sony

P.S. Your Xbox is overheating

by zero - 2007-05-25 16:23
» Uh

That would be the perfect example. It would also be a tribute to a playstation classic.

by BlacKDraGoN_ - 2007-05-25 19:09
» lmao

charge wirelessly? that's impossible. electricity can't be transfered that way only a signal can.

solid gold PS logo? now that's just retarded.

play games on a screen on the controller, wow get a life.

pocket knife, weights to gain muscle, work with 30 console, control all sony products, phone calls, alarmclock, start your car, fuel powered, flashlight, thermometer, cost 1$?

whatever it is you're smoking dude i seriously want some.

the only good ideas in that whole paragraph is the glow in the dark buttons, but only if it is just the shapes. all the buttons glowing would be stupid. also the option to eject the disc with the controller. these are both thing that are actually possible and would be good ideas.

drinking your sweat is gross btw, and you dont need a power gauge on th controller you can see it on the screen.

by BlacKDraGoN_ - 2007-05-25 19:17
» to sony exec.

you actually consider microsoft to be competition? they care nothing of costumer service or the quality of their goods but making money alone. microsoft will hire anyone these days. plus all of the companies working for content on the PS3 is insane, like that new Video On Demand feature coming out and alot of people i know still dont know that thing has motion sensing and i tell them to shake the controller when they get caught on fire in R:FoM and they say "dude, i dont believe you, you just want to make me look stupid" lmfao

after my PS3 got stolen i called SCEA and he was very helpful with deleting my credit card information from my PSN account and changing my email address.

by RavenSPe - 2007-05-25 20:32
» cheap controllers

I hope people sell their controllers dirt cheap on ebay. I don't give a dam about rumble so maybe I can benefit from this lol.

by Philip - 2007-05-25 20:42
» Question

Maybe a noob question but what is rumble?

Is rumble that your controller shakes like the ps2 controller?

I don't live in a English country so I don't know many words.

"charge wirelessly? that's impossible. electricity can't be transfered that way only a signal can."

actually you would find it can!

by Gryff33 - 2007-05-26 00:25
» I thought...

...it was impossible to fit motion sensing and rumble into the same controller. That's what Sony said, right?

by uiouio - 2007-05-26 03:04
» YET MORE EXPENSE

Yes it going to cost them around ANOTHER £100 just to replace their soon to be useless ones that they have now. what a ripoff...

by uiuyi - 2007-05-26 03:08
» Im abandoning ship while I still can

WOW another 90 pounds to replace the 2 controllers I already have, this machine is proving very expensive considering it has hardly any games and worryingly its now only selling 8,000 a week in Japan, looks like its in BIG trouble.

by trytry - 2007-05-26 03:14
» BAD SONY REAL BAD

To continue selling PS2 accessories, Sony paid Immersion $30.6 million, but left the vibrating feature out of the PS3 controller claiming that the rumble feature would not work with a motion sensing controller..

AND NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN IT CAN !!!!!!!!!!!!

by Alex Court - 2007-05-26 03:15
» Impossible? i think not

The Wii controller supports fu ll motion sensing and has rumble so how is it impossible?

by toby - 2007-05-26 06:14
» impossible

To be honest if sony created a controller that good sony would probally make you sell your house to buy it. BTW i dont really want to drink my own sweat

by To Philip - 2007-05-26 20:01
» Don't apologize and you're correct

Yeah, man don't apologize. And you're right, rumble is when the controller shakes like the PS2's.

by Microsoft - 2007-05-26 20:17
» Dear Sony

We are honored that Sony is taking the time to make us look bad. Thanks for saying you can shut us down when you're company is barely making any money. Thank you for you appreciation of us. But we also want to apologize to you. We are sorry that we are taking exclusives from you. You understand, its business. We are also sorry you're are barely selling any PS3 units and have no worthy games at all so you basically have an expensive HD movie player. Lastly, thanks for worrying about the Xbox360's heating problem. We are working on that.

P.S: How's the protein folding going? Too busy with the proteins to release any good games?

by SomePeople - 2007-05-26 23:12
» Eh?

"actually you would find it can!"

Actually, you would find it can't.

Sure you can generate electricity by passing a wire through a magnetic field, and using this principle power devices which require tiny amounts of power, such as a shop security tag, but you cannot charge a device by 'transmitting' electricity to it.

Also, "awwwww yeahhh" is only joking. :)
