PS3 slim bundle - Image 1We already heard numerous rumors about the leaked PS3 slim before, we even have a video snippet from the Philippines just last week. Now here comes another one from the latest 1UP podcast. David Ellis has revealed that the much awaited PS3 slim will debut this August and will be bundled with the upcoming Madden NFL 10 (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP, PC, PS2).

Ellis said this might be the reason why Activision recently threatened Sony to abandon its platforms because they are tying the release with an EA title rather than Activision. Adding fuel to the speculation, Sony has already confirmed a massive press conference on August 18 for GamesCom but didn't give any details about the show. Madden NFL 10 is scheduled for release on August 14. So what do you think guys? Is the PS3 slim really on the way? Stay tuned.

» yeah and i

will definitely be laughing august 14 cuz u wont get a ps3 lol. its getting close to 3 years so either your getting one or your not. seriously just get off your ass and get a job and buy one.

» agreed PS2GT

yea im pretty sure hes not getting one cause hes gonna complain about the price. If you havent bought a ps3 or 360 yet then your not really into gaming and you probably have a wii cause its 250 and it has wii sports. The original ps3 is good enough it looks like you wont be able to switch hard drives on it. I dont care about the slim stop making new hardware and start making more games dammit my ps3 needs some usage its really dusty. Been playing the DLC for fallout 3 but people who have ps3's only will be able to enjoy soon.

» your as bad as pr621

You spew *****.

There's loads to keep on busy on the ps3.

» @hush404

There are a lot of games for the PS3 and I bought most of them but I'm already done with all of them. All the games this gen are too short, RPGs almost all suck and online play killed many of the games' single player campaign re-playability except MGS4(games such as Killzone 2, Gears 1+2, CoD, Halo 3, etc).

@Link75e

I'm playing Fallout 3 too but I'm already starting to get sick of it. Soon both my systems will start to collect dust. And soon I'll probably buy a modded Wii just to fill in those boring days(damn it the Wii better look decent on HD TV).

» or maybe

Or maybe, just maybe, the exclusives on the PS3 weren't worth it's higher price tag? Why buy a PS3 for a few games unless you REALLY want to play them?

Anybody who works for a living will tell you that $400 is no chump-change.

» @ Orlyeh

Maybe the exclusives weren't worth the high price tag but the free online play (with no ads), Blu-Ray drive, wireless rechargeable controllers, memory card slots, built-in wifi, 4 USB ports, and full backwards compatibility were.

all current comparisons

free online play: 400 (ps3) - 200 (360) + 200, that's 4 years of xbox live

blu-ray: protection already cracked, already watching on my media server system and big screen

wireless rechargeable controllers: I'll give you that one, BUT the 360's controller isn't just a carbon copy of the original xbox's. I prefer it to the dual shock.

memory card slots: my $400 PS3 has no memory card slots

built-in wifi: I'll give you that one, but my PS3 is wired nonetheless; it doesn't even have 802.11n though

USB: my PS3 has 2, my 360 has 3

full backwards compatability: my PS3 doesn't have it

my PS3 DOES, however, have a nice hard drive that came standard

by Flamesack112 - 2009-07-20 13:19
» My ps3

Is a launch unit.

Full hardware backwards compatability

Card slots

4 USB slots

500GB hdd

I wish Sony made the PS3 cheaper. It really sucks to see the better system lose to 360 just because of the price. I play my PS3 3x more than my 360.

» so um..

when the slim comes does that mean they will stop producing fat ones? if so, then i really need to buy a fat one soon because i dont like the new one's look...sadly

Can't wait for August 18, not only 'cause it's my birthday, but also anticipating the news regarding the Slim.

I've been planning on getting a PS3 for about 6months now. I barely get to play my 360, and sending it to Microsoft every 3-6 months, and waiting that long is really not worth it.

by aroxim - 2009-07-20 16:34
» orlyeh

u almost had it...

but most people dont know that the 200 dollar 360 is a core console.

lets add another 100 for a 60gig hdd which is needed for online play in the first place

another 100 to give your 360 wireless connection we're now at 400 dollars hmm...

300 for 60 gig 360

400 for 120 gig 360

400 for 80 gig ps3

basic prices

but lets also consider ps3 doesnt have such a high failure rate as the 360

the ps3 does have the same controller

but lets recall e3 of 05

people complained about the attempt to give us a new controller. which is why its still the same.

the guy above i think was referring to people who jumped at the ps3 as soon as it was out.

my ps3 was 500 and includes my 4 usbs, memory card slots and full backwards capabilities. and as the guy mentioned above also... the sonys hard drive can be replace with any notebook sata. while ur limited to a 120 on the 360 in which some how 12 gigs always seems to disappear.

my ps3 also has linux... my 360 didnt manage that one... but linux is bleh...

in all words my 360 went back to gamestop and i sit happily at home with my launch unit ps3 :)

» aroxim

a 20 gig hard drive costs $55 and while it's nice to have, isn't required or a necessity for online play

want to save money on a ps3 without a hard drive? oh, sorry, some games have a mandatory install

so 255 vs 400 - 3 years of xbox live

wifi - again, it's not vital for online play, and, I would argue that because neither have 802.11n wifi in place, I'd much prefer to have them wired in the first place

leave the wifi to low-bandwidth and portable machines

don't forget that top-of-the-line PS3s cost $600 at launch

dunno bout you guys but if that things real....im getting one......It looks sweet!!!

» ps3 slim

wanted to reply to FelisCatusLover

maybe u should get one from a store and not a pawnshop?! because mine DOES have all that

by Plaztek98 - 2009-07-20 20:21
» stop producing fat ones?

id think theyd loose money that way..sony be better off continuing the fat as well and make the games compatable for all

by Plaztek98 - 2009-07-20 20:23
» slim

my wife has a cousin whos manager at gamestop, lucky me, im guaranteed one at launch..and slant six i know exactly how u fell i had to send my 360 in 3 times in 2 months...it ended up back at gamestop traded for ps3 and psp games

by trey4li4e17 - 2009-07-20 23:11
» @Link75e

Theres heaps of games on PS3... Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Resistance, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, MGS 4, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue/Full Version, MAG, Little Big Planet

by sickofitall - 2009-07-21 01:25
» why are you guys complaining

if he wants a slim ps3 that's his choice.

by truk - 2009-07-21 10:45
» are we still arguing about value for buck?

ps3 wins automatically. why? cause sony loses money every time one is sold. ps3 has everything a xbox has and a little more and you cant deny it. i'm not saying the ps3 is better, i'm just saying youre getting more for your dollar.

by lito2213 - 2009-07-21 12:20
» orlyeh

cut the s#!t 360 cost the same as a ps3.yea u can get a xbox 360 foe $200 but when u realy look at it buying all the accessories for it cost ( controller $55,rechargeab le battery $13,play and charge kit $22,head set $20,intercoole r $30,hard drive $120, wireless network adapter $100 your total is $560 get you facts right

by Kahuna - 2009-07-21 16:11
» stuff

You should get your facts straight..you don't need the extra controller, rechargeable battery, the play and charge kit, the extra headset (one comes with the system), the intercooler, hard drive comes with most systems, the network adapter..so if you skip these you can play just fine bc thats what i do..extra controllers and headsets go for the ps3 and possibly evn the intercooler..so get the facts straight for yourself man
