Sony PlayStation 3 SIXAXIS controller - Image 1Sony looks to be (literally) shaking things up for this year's upcoming Tokyo Game Show, at least if this rumor we've picked up is true. Word on the street is that the company sent out a new PlayStation 3 System Development Kit (SDK) last Thursday, September 13, to concerned developers.

And while it's interesting to note that the SDKs were released just a week before the start of the TGS, what's more lucrative is that an insider hints the kit includes Rumble support for the PS3's SIXAXIS controller. That's all the info we've got at the moment though, so we advice the readers to just wait until more solid info is announced in the near future.

This year's TGS will be going down from September 20 to 23, with Sony hinting that it might be releasing info on an almost-as-mysterious new PS3 SKU.

Check back for updates, and be sure to prepare yourself for one of Japan's biggest game conventions.

I hope they bring rumble back to the PS family. Yes, it's nothing new, it's just an industry standard that Sony is without. I'm sure I can speak for everyone when I say we welcome it with open palms. :D

Also, all we need is a firmware upgrade and all games should be able to support the rumble feature. RAWR

# I wouldn't be supprised since they made the same thing with the PS1platon 2007-09-17 06:44
I mean, when I bought my ps1, it came with a standart controller (without ANALOGS AND RUMBLE) and after a while, they POPPED the analog/rumble controller!! They didn't cared if the "new" games would support it or not since it can be turned off (that means that everybody can play the game with or without the rumble so they can put it in everygame).

It's possible, and I suppose I could be the secret work of kojima, LOL (joke).

The game has to be coded for rumble support so only newer games will have it. I'm sure a firmware update will still be required.

Just like the original Playstation.

but I said that a while back some Sony people said that the rumble should be ready by the tokyo game show (i said in august but i got the dates mixed up).

& for the post above me I think kojima did have a part in making this possible. I think that Mgs4 & killzone 2 will have rumble.

First you would need the firmware upgrade, regardless. The rumble feature wouldn't work out of the box.

And as if you haven't guess, the availability of the PSN will allow gamers to update the game to have force feedback...provided the game developers aren't lazy. With the library of PS3 games still at a small count, I could definitely see devs "patching" up the games to allow it.

You never know a firmware update could also work on the older games.

Since this is a rumor im going to take this with a grain of salt(even though i love the rumble feature).
