Warhawk in space - Image 1 Informed sources have leaked info over to Kotaku, saying that LightBox Interactive Studios is hard at work on a new Warhawk title. I'd sure love to see all that firepower in zero-gravity, and it wouldn't hurt to see the aircraft a la Star Wars. Will they ditch the lead for lasers?

The game, sources say, is described as Warhawk in space, and it has been in development for some time now. When asked to comment, LightBox prez Dylan Jobe didn't even indulge for a tease.

We're incredibly happy to continue working with Sony Computer Entertainment America and World Wide Studios. We've got a great relationship with them and I'm really proud of our new partnership. With regard to the inevitable "What are you guys working on?"... It's way too early to comment on anything but I can say that we have some really exciting stuff in development that our Warhawk fans *and* new players will love.

Oh well. I can't imagine how the game would still feel like Warhawk if it's in outer space. Well, no better to find out than...err...wait.

In the meantime:

» I Think It Would Be Cool

Just think, instead of little mini islands you go to it would be little planetary bodies. Kind of like Mario Galaxy or something.

» meh

Hm, part of why I like Warhawk is that it's not in space. I like running about on foot and using ground vehicles.

» cool

sounds badass i hope we will still be able to get out our ships though maybe on giant floating space stations or cities in space where you can enter and leave

» SWEET!!!

Imagine if there are HUGE starships: you have magnetic boots and you're able to walk/run around on this HUGE Starship in 3 dimensions while simultaneously manning turrets, firing shoulder mounted rockets, using your jet pack, and MORE!!!!! Man the possibilities are limitless!!!!! I HOPE this happens, besides it would probably come in the form of a REALLY HUGE expansion pack, so to all of you guys who say "I like Warhawk because its not in space", and other things like that....DON'T BUY IT! DON'T DOWNLOAD IT!!! Everybody's happy!

» Well

I know theres no info on the game yet, but what they could possible do is something that would included all of that. The way I see it they can either make the game massive and have planets that you can land on and fight over. Or they can make it asteroids and space stations. Either way I don't think they'll loose they're core gameplay of being able to choose if you want to be in the air or on ground (maybe they'll even add the sea).

» blah

I hope there are land battles on planets then. From a graphic viewpoint I've always found space games boring to look at too.

» multi-leveled game play

would be awesome...only in space wouldn't be any different from the current game.

» You could have inverted on-foot attacks

I agree with Eclipze. I think Warhawk could easily translate to a very inventive type of space battle. You could have the on-foot sections to be in spacesuits with anti-grav boots (so that you could walk on any wall, etc. Or, imagine something like a battle inside Babylon 5's space station (a circular enclosed garden). And then, of course, regular old space flight with lasers would also rock. Add some even more inventive Sixaxis usage: how about being able to flip on a dime by spinning the controller around, or to actually do a complete vertical flip by tipping the controller up or down. ---Could be very sweet.

Don't asteroids have their own gravitational pull? In esense

» Dammit wheres the edit button QJ?

* essence you wont need the anti boots . I guess all you would do is get off your Jet and walk in the Station built into the Asteroids and if the enemy comes to invade, then the asteroid can be fought for or destroyed lol Just having some thoughts like you guys I like the idea of Warhawk in space too.
