The next Tomb Raider game will be an open-world, survival horror series reboot that has Lara Croft fighting against the love child of F.E.A.R.'s Alma and Wolverine. At least that's the vibe I'm getting from these supposedly secret images of the new game that were recently leaked onto the Web.

The images, reportedly liberated by an anonymous mole and given to 4 Player Co-Op, show concept art and early details for the next Tomb Raider title from Eidos. This reboot will supposedly tell Lara's origin story, which has her shipwrecked on a mysterious island off the shores of Japan. The last image also seems to be a survey of some sort, judging by the text at the bottom.

Authentic? Fake? Only Eidos can tell us for sure. Let's just wait a bit though. Eidos has proven to be bad at keeping secrets -- even the dirtier ones -- in the past.

thats funny because Drakes Fortune was basically a revamp of Tomb Raider with better controls. The rest of the game was almost the same as previous tomb raider games.

My money is on it not being Tomb Raider at all and the person who got their hands on it just assumed it was lara croft.

If it turns out to be TR... its a sad sad day for the TR franchise.

Tomb Raider is in desperate need of a Revamp anyway. Any change to me is welcome. And how does this not look like tomb raider?? Hello, the originals had mummies and other demon things.

I think TR had some lows on PS2, but the latest 2 installements (Legends and Underworld) were pretty cool. I really got that typical explorer feeling from TR2 again in Underworld, which I just completed.

Sure, the games have potential for improvement, but it shouldn't be changed completely. Including the main character. If they change here too much, it's just not Lara anymore (just like a LOT of people just don't see the new Bond as a "James Bond" anymore; just some other action dude, without all the things made Bond who he was).

They should take a leaf or two out of the books of games like Uncharted and Infamous for the controls and story telling, but there's nothing wrong with the games background and basics.

Just look at RE - While RE4 and 5 sure are great action games, they're both just not "Resident Evil" anymore to me. The whole atmosphere, gameplay and even story line is so completely different, that they should have been given a different name.

I don't want that same thing to happen to TR. Maybe they should just hand the franchise over to Naughty Dog...

Uncharted and tomb raider are nothing alike besides jungles and treasure. :/
