We picked up this interesting press release earlier, and it deals with another rumor of an MGS title heading for the Xbox 360. The article starts of by announcing the forming of the new Kojima X Productions group, which will be heading this venture for the Xbox 360. As the press release explained:

The newly formed Kojima "X" Productions is proud to announce that Metal Gear Solid: Trilogy is currently in development for the XBOX®360 ( X360 ) next-generation computer entertainment system from Microsoft ( MS ). Metal Gear Solid: Trilogy will be a remake of three Hideo Kojima's masterpieces. Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. The Metal Gear Solid series, is highly acclaimed worldwide, with its breathtaking graphics, profound stories, intricate human drama, original game design and superlative gameplay.

The announcement goes on to say that there was a similar game in the works titled Metal Gear Solid: Fluid Ac!d, which will be for the Zune player. While the notion of a collection of an MGS title hitting the Xbox 360 was something we liked, something sounded very familiar with the news. In a strange bit of deja vu, we unearthed this old press release we had picked up from the 2005 E3:

The newly formed Kojima Productions is proud to announce that Metal Gear Solid 4 is currently in development for the PLAYSTATION®3 ( PS3 ) next-generation computer entertainment system from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. ( SCEI ). Hideo Kojima's masterpiece, the Metal Gear Solid (MGS) series, is highly acclaimed worldwide, with its breathtaking graphics, profound stories, intricate human drama, original game design and superlative gameplay.

The press release on top also enclosed Konami and Kojima's site addresses - neither mentioned anything on this. And given it's a press release, we'd assume that the company site would have some sort of info available. Once again, very strange.

If we're one of your wannabe journalists that's lately been flocking the net, we'd just tab this one under the "hoax" bin. But given how big the possible update could be, we're trying to see if we can dig up more info on this elusive MGS: Trilogy title . We'll keep you posted.

It's rumored that MGS4 is costing $40 mil, Konami will go bankrupt if they don't put it on the 360 within 6 months of its PS3 release, and if PS3 sales don't increase EXPONENTIALLY by its release it'll be day one on 360
