Hypothetically speaking, what do you think of a Metal Gear Solid movie that has Christian Bale and Daniel Craig in it as Solid and Liquid Snake, respectively? Would you go see it? You may have to decide soon, because if this poster is the real deal then that's just what we'll see in 2011.

The poster in question, which you can see below, is supposedly for the Metal Gear Solid movie that we know is being made. The poster was allegedly seen in the Sony Pictures office in Culver City, CA, and it also shows that the movie is due for July 2011.

Let's put aside the question of whether or not this is a 'shopped image for the time being. What do you guys think of the casting choices? I hear Christian Bale has expressed some interest in being a part of the movie before. Sound off in the comments section.

» Christian Bale?!

I hate this guy. He's going to sound to much like Batman. Hopefully this stays a rumor.

» HOLY ****!!!

These are two of my favorite actors, that would be amazing! Now how well will the movie be made? Bale is one of my favorites but even he couldnt save Terminator....

by kupomogli - 2009-06-17 05:19
» Christian Bale is in it?

Then it's most likely going to be good.

I actually haven't ever seen Christian Bale in a bad movie. He also stars in one of my favorite movies of all time; Equilibrium.

That picture of Bale seem familiar. I think it's from one of his movie, either the Machinist or Terminator.

» rumor or not

either way i can't wait for a good metal gear solid movie. i hope this gets some nice casting and crew, directors, etc. hopefully the scriptwriters would stay faithful to the story too and delivers the movie pretty well.

i'm pretty sure bale won't accept a dub on his voice over david hayter or anyone else. well, thats for people who's already used to david hayter's voice-over on the mgs series. oh well, let's just wait and see for this one. hopefully some more news and updates will come.

by JediKnightJace - 2009-06-17 06:20
» Heck yes

kupomogli, I agree with you 100 percent. Not nearly enough people saw Equilibrium, it's my favorite Bale movie (which is saying something).

Anyways, I sure hope this rumor is true. That would be FULLY AWESOME!

by Noobicious - 2009-06-17 06:40
» bale

if bale won't accept a dub, then maybe he'll work on the voice. really, the guy went down to 100 lbs just for his character on The Machinist, then quickly went up another 100 for Batman.

though this is a rumor, i probably wouldn't mind Bale as much. Say we throw a bandana onto his head: http://www.mtv.com/shared/promoimages/movies/r/rescue_dawn/christian_bale/281x211.jpg

and say Bale is dedicated enough to work on his voice, then I'd say we're good here.

» ....

kuplomogli, I couldn't agree more. Equilibrium was one of the best movies I've ever seen. And Batman was the only "Super Action hero" movie I really liked.

» simply

simply fake because Cristian Bale has a short hair in his latest movie, but solid snake has more of a long hair.

With latest movie from C. Bale I mean that's where his foto is from

» Better Snake?

I can easily choose a better Snake than Bale. I'd say to get the size, rough grit, and badass thatis Snake, how about ERIC DANE instead of Bale? He could easily play Snake as he's got the look and build. No as for the acting talent he's phystical enough and did a decent job as Multiple Man in X3. I say Eric Dane is my first pick. It should've been between Michael Biehn, Kurt Russell, or Russell Crowe but they're too old now. Dane would fit the bill well. For Liquid, I'm a bit partial to Liev Schreiber for his size and physical ability (Then again I think he'd be a perfect James Bond). If not, I'd say Ralph Fiennes. He's a great actor which would be needed since most of the story is driven by Liquid. Kojima kept Snake's lines minimal so Dane would'nt have to say much... Campbell would be the old Colonel from Rambo LOL.

by papajag - 2009-06-17 08:10
» @Silver-Tiger

The only reason Batman was good was because of Heath Ledger as Joker. Christian Bale uses the same voice even in Howl's Moving Castle. He can't ever change his Batman voice. Him as Snake is not a good idea unless he gets dubbed.

by Navani - 2009-06-17 08:43
» aw..

I don't really like Christian Bale.. I don't know why, but I just don't ever feel emotion for him in his movies. I mean, he's not a bad actor, but even in Batman I didn't feel anything for him. I believe that there are a lot of actors out there who would be great for the part, I really hope they don't choose Bale..

by DrFreeman - 2009-06-17 09:22
» @papajag

Actually, I doubt you've seen many of his movies than because in movies such as Rescue Dawn and 3:10 to Yuma he is actually particularly good in changing not only his voice but accent, expressions, etc. and all that which a good actor should be known for. Personally, I thought Bale's voice in Batman is perfect for this role, since Snake himself has a similar-sounding deep and rough voice. But I wouldn't hire him as Snake not because of his acting, but because Snake's character is not suited for Snake.

P.S. @Daistaar: Eric Dane looks good for the role! Dunno about his acting as I haven't seen his movies. This guy should star as Snake! http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bNlrg2siv38/R_SHxvNnNVI/AAAAAAAAB9M/MYObfr-_6jI/s320/jackie-shroff.jpg

Just needs to lose a little weight and build more muscle!

» Christian Bale

i think he is a good actor. and for those of you who havnt seen The Machinist u shud go check it out. its one twisted movie with a crazy ass ending. anyway christian bale plays the main role of a psycho. for that role Bale actually lost over 60 pounds, also his voice sounds completely normal lol. but i think he is a very dedicated actor

by DrFreeman - 2009-06-17 09:28
» SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!

I don't think Daniel Craig should be in this movie, at least no in a starring role. I'm predicting the movie would be a bigger success if lesser-known actors were in the movie. So in that case, Bale shouldn't be in it either.

Put big movie stars in a film = big hype = big risk of disappointment = sad result for the first MGS movie.

I hope Kojima's directing or co-directing the movie!

» Totally fake.

Not even worth discussing. Open it in any image editor, draw a straight line under the bottom of the text, then draw a straight line at the bottom edge of the poster. If this image were real, these lines would be PARALLEL due to the perspective. They're not NEARLY parallel.

by GreySoul - 2009-06-17 10:19
» prolly fake but

not totally convinced by that though...

by damonous - 2009-06-17 10:39
» My first thought, too

Let's call this one .....totally bogus. That looks like one of Bale's Terminator Salvation poses. I would be VERY surprised if both Bale and Craig sign-up for this.

by Specht - 2009-06-17 10:52
» Hmm...

Most likely fake since I'd expect any hoax idea to include Bale, but this one pushed a bit further with Daniel Craig as Liquid.(Craig with a mullet, that'd be a sight to see)

Now that I think of it, if this were real, Bale would have long hair and the trademark headband.

Anyway, if this was really a MGS movie poster (and it pictured these actors in these roles), I'd be interested. Judging by his Batman voice, Bale could possibly have a good Snake impression and he would look fairly similar to him with the long hair and headband.

» Where is..

...Kurt Russell!?!

by ZodiacD - 2009-06-17 11:56
» Snake cannot be Snake without David Hayter!

I wouldn't care but Snake cannot be Snake without David Hayter >.

by Thinker - 2009-06-17 15:49
» Fake or not...

I don't know if this is fake or not, but if it was true, I don't get one thing.

As far as I understand the MGS saga, Solid and Liquid Snake are clones and look similar, if not nearly identical. So shouldn't this be: Christian Bale as Solid Snake AND Christian Bale as Liquid?

1 more thing do the accept as an character in the MGS movie...its false rumor

» LOL

i like how u deducted .1% cuz you secretly want it to suceed and another .1% cuz your an mgs fanboy

the dedication brings tears to my eyes lol

by maddehaan - 2009-06-17 20:10
» Fake

The marketing doesn't start until the movie is shot (editing and stuff still going). Also, this looks too much like an unused T:Salvation poster edited. No wait, that facial hair....it is from his time in The Machinist.

by maddehaan - 2009-06-17 20:29
» Equilibrium?

Well Equilibrium is good for the simplicity of the story and the great action scenes (especially at the end), but for acting and awesome story-tricks, I think the Machinist is a way better show of Bale's abilities.

I am very happy Bale did Batman, made the knight dark again and of course Nolan did one hell of a job, putting Dark Knight and Batman comics in one into the first movie. Bale grows on you. Imagine what he has done to play the roles, I respect him for that.

by jmak0 - 2009-06-18 01:07
» good actors but...

Daniel Craig did well as James Bond, not sure if he can do Liquid's very distinctive posh English accent. Bale did good in Batman Begins, but not as well in Dark Knight IMHO, his voice isn't deep enough, like David Hayter's and also these actors don't look like twins; Bale's bone structure especially on the face is much more slender than Craig's, amongst other things. Saying that though, they are both used to doing this type of movie. I don't think Craig is up to the insanity and arrogant psychopathic evil of Liquid's character, and don't think Bale is quite old enough or has that experienced, comfortable on the battleifield look about him to the extent that Snake does.

by Tydeus - 2009-06-18 01:19
» Hm?

Well, I can't say I like Christian Bale, he did alright as Batman, and seemed like he played the same character in Terminator, but more douchyfied. Good movies though.

I like Daniel Craig too, but Liquid? And why would you have Snake vs. Liquid in the first movie? Why repeat the game and then do a tie-in game to the movie? So basically if it is Snake vs. Liquid.. they're going to make MGS1 again? I don't get it.

by Digitus - 2009-06-18 12:52
» Well

It depends on the director as well, if its like, Christopher Nolan, it could be fantastic lol. Its probably fake because Christian Bale is supposedly a one movie at a time man and I thought he was working on something right now.

I do like both actors though.

by Azrael_666 - 2009-06-19 05:10
» personally...

I think that poster is photoshopped. it looks like something from the terminator salvation screens, with a cigarette 'shopped in.

I think Bale made a great batman, but he put too much of a batman in when he played John Conner. I don't think he'd make a good solid snake. I want David Hayter, simply because he IS snake. He looks very close to snake, and we already know he sounds like snake (or snake sounds like him) and he's been a huge part of metal gear solid since the beginning.

I don't know who the other guy is but i'll look him up.

my opinion though is that this movie should be CG, not live action. the type of action the game portrayed is just too intense and yea it can be done in live action but it looks way too overdone and corny compared to if it were done in CG. that and David Hayter could reprise his role as Solid Snake.

by Azrael_666 - 2009-06-19 05:26
» ok now i know

who daniel craig is. bad choice. he looks nothing like bale.

by shadows_flames - 2009-06-20 05:47
» why not make an animated movie like ffXIIac

it would be cool and we could have the voice(David Hayter) of the Real solid snake (not batman)

and most of all have Hideo Kojima to write there scripts

by ushclabla - 2009-06-20 09:18
» better not use christian bale

i dont think christian bale would match playing as solid or liquid snake.and if he does star in it, he better not sound like the retard like in batman.because snake has a deep voice and bale sounds horrible when talking in a deep voice its irritating.they also should dub him if he does play as solid/liquid snake.i just cant imagine him playing as someone as cool as snake.
