Rumor: Lost Planet 2 is for Xbox 360 only?

They've said it again and again: "We like multiplatform". So why is Capcom's Lost Planet sequel listed only as an Xbox 360 game in the latest Famitsu preview as seen in the scan below?

The first thing that comes to mind is timed exclusivity. Yeah, Capcom has committed to going multi-platform on all of their new releases, but that doesn't mean they can't do timed exclusives. The announcement was made on Live, after all. So the game could come out first on the Xbox 360 while the PS3 gets Lost Planet 2: Extremer Conditions sometime down the road. Just like the original.

Another possible reason is even simpler: the build Famitsu previewed was for the Xbox 360 version. I don't know a thing about the Japanese language, but the Kotaku report on the scans says that the game's already 40% done and features online multiplayer and four-player co-op. No mention was made on which console build the preview was based on. Check out more scans below.

It'll be multiplatform for sure.

» Timed exclusive seems likely

I don't think they'd have a specially made XBL marketplace announcement video (which does not mention a PS3 version) for no reason

It will go to PS3 tho

» no interest

I have no interest in Lost Planet, which I guess has been the reason why I've not gotten it for either 360 or PS3.

I am however starting to get generally pissed off with Capcom's lackluster MT Framework. It simply does not leverage any of the PS3's capabilities. It runs everything off the hard drive. It only uses 256MB of RAM on PS3, while using all 512 on Xbox.

I certainly understand the so-called multiplatform strategy.. but just like Square Enix, talk appears to be cheap on that subject. Capcom is definitely putting out quality stuff, on par or better than Microsoft's own best efforts. I would like to see if Capcom could match Sony's.

» man

it sucks to have just one console this generation. Just when you think the developers are starting to get the ps3, this happens.

» Extremer Conditions?

Sounds like a terrible name for a sequel. It would be like calling LBP2 "Littler Bigger Planet"
