Rumor: HMV taking pre-orders for MGS4 on Xbox 360, release dates confirmed? |

Is this real, or a misunderstanding? Either way, we were quite surprised to find out that retailer HMV UK is now accepting pre-orders for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on the PS3 AND the Xbox 360. Both games also have release dates set.
We all know that Konami haven't announced anything official, but HMV claims to know the exact dates for next year's releases. MGS4 on the PS3 is tagged for April 4, while the Xbox 360 version is supposed to follow five months after, come September 26.
HMV is most prominent in the music industry for being the largest high street music retailer in the UK. Founded in 1921, the small shop from London have since then enhanced its inventory with plenty of books, movies, and video games.
Even with such credentials, we'll have to place these pre-orders under rumors for now. Konami just recently stated that MGS4 going multi-platform is still in consideration, so it's not likely to see a release date for Xbox 360 (or any system for that matter) so soon.

It's just a load of arrogant bastards....... it's not going to the 360. Konami may be considering bringing it to the 360, but with the ps3 sales rising (doing better than the 360 may I add) and with the most anticipated exclusives being right around the corner; Heavenly Sword Sept 12, Warhawk Aug 28, Lair Sept 4, Haze Nov, ect. ( in which will be bringing a huge uprise in ps3 sales because seriously, most of the people who haven't bought a ps3 yet are just waiting for these games to come out to buy one) Konami will see that they will not come even close to an estimated revenue in which would force them into making MGS4 multiplatform in order to make up for game production costs. Come the end of this month and the start of next Konami will see the ps3 sales uprising and will discard the idea and thought of multiplatform.
I wouldn't buy it for xbox 360 if it did come out on the system. MGs4 is built for ps3 its like playing halo on the ps3....it just wouldn't feel right.

How the hell could the retailers already know the exact date of launch. Maybe konami could already have decided on PS3 launch date and only have told this retailer. But I seriously doubt konami would set an exact release on a game thats coming out in over a year!. (360)

It's a mistake cause it's priced at $40 and it's been taken down from the site now. Also Kojima is a man of honor and is true toi his word,and he said it's a ps3 because he wants snakes legacy to end on playstation family of consoles which right now is the playstation 3 computer enternaiment system.

it dosent matter to me If it came out on the 360 I wouldnt buy it. I dont give two *****s about playing it on the 360. I like the 360 better because there are more titles but My fondest memory of gaming is getting a demo disc with MGS1 on it and playing for hours on end with the japanese dialogue, trying to get the fastest completion time i could. And you know what it was on the Playstation. I may have broke down and bought a 360 for gears and dead rising but i refuse to get my favorite franchises for anything other than PS3.

this all depends on the amount of consoles sony sells by the MGS4 release date and also taking into consideration other console selling games also. im saying sony is going to sell a little under 10 million by the end of the year in anticipation of 1st Quarter games and later selling 2 million in anticipation of FF. creating a large enough fanbase to AXE the 360 version. its very possible!Sony sells 4.5 million consoles with the complaint of having no games, inferior online play, inferior ports and lack of content. Now that there is exclusive games coming out covering almost every genre and more content and updates including Home to the PSN network the sales of PS3s have nowhere to go but up! the opinion is not bashing 360 in any way so you can keep you war.

Those games have ratings of average to below average. While on the other hand, before Xmas the 360 will have games like Bioshock (9.9 out of 10), Mass Effect (10 out of 10) and Halo 3 (11 out of 10) among many other great games.

the games are more or less finished - just applying the finishing touches/completing end levels.
what - do u think they prep the game over 1 or 2 years + finish it overnight + ship it the next day - reviewers, get the game's beta/demo months before retail release.

you started out makeing sence in the 2 console next-gen race(wii isnt next gen) it does make more sence to maximis your return of investment by putting out games on both systems the problem is that the game companys arnt willing yet to optimise them for both systems and we get these crapy ports the frame rates will seem choppy and youll be stuck with the lowest common native resolution all in all its bad all around. obviusly niether system is going to disapear and they ARE NOT similar. the only solution is that game companys are going to have to put the time in to do the ports the right way and make 2 actual versions of the game if they want to reap these xtra profits. but in reality will all just be seeing more shoty ports. Only idiots pre order games. Was there ever a game that was hard to find, even on the day it came out? Maybe in the cartridge days, when games had to be manufactured out of chips and whatnot, but a million discs can be mass produced in a couple weeks.

The X360 is only a success in America (I said small because 11 millions sold is nothing after 1 1/2 year for being alone (ps3 no games yet)). The rest of the world doesn't care about your X360!

Alone for 1 year, then joined by PS3 and Wii, for which many gamers were waiting for anyway. So 11 million for the 360 is excellent.
As for the PS3 having no games yet? Please, sure it's best games have yet to come (same with all the consoles), but there are some great games out for the PS3 NOW. Besides, the PS2 had a worse library of games at this stage after launch, and yet the sales of that console were huge after 8 months!

Japan is the only stumbling block for the 360, and doesn't look like changing anytime soon. America and Europe DO care about the 360 (as the sales show).

you exagtly dont know hideo either because every gaming company cares about cash and Hideo has hinted about it for too long ....
