Rumor: Gran Turismo 5 global release in March 2010, GT game also coming to PSP2? |
Ó
A trip to the mill didn't only net us more rumors but a whole lot of cryptic imagery as well. The GTPlanet forums are abuzz with some more rumors about Gran Turismo 5 and the elusive portable entry in the Gran Turismo series.
These rumors were posted by amar212, who apparently has a track record for being pretty much always dead on about these things. The post comes in a cryptic flavor full of allusions to winds and such, but here's what is generally believed to be what amar212 is really trying to say:
- Gran Turismo 5 is coming out in March 2010. Or December 2009, depending on your interpretation. It will have a simultaneous worldwide release.
- There will be 600 cars and 90 tracks. Users will also be able to make their won tracks by combining parts taken from pre-existing tracks.
- Increased connectivity options. A voice chat feature and clan/team support are among those believed to be included.
- There will be two versions: a more expensive full version that has everything and a cheaper version that lets gamers just choose and download what they want.
- Finally, a pared-down release for a platform that "still has not been uncovered" but "made in the image of" an existing one. Gran Turismo for the PSP2?

I wouldn't count on it, wait for PD to make an official release date, then tack on about a year and half and hope it's out by then. I remember GT4, I reserved a copy when they first set a release date a month before it was originally supposed to come out, I ended up waiting over a year for it to actually come out. Still, with what PD produces, it's worth the wait (of course, I'm a huge fan of the series, others may say otherwise).
Doe's anyone care anymore. probably wont have damage even when it's released.
And it never will. Its part of the contract they make with the car companies. They want as fair a replication as possible, but no body damage, and absolutely no breaking down. If anything, the lack of mechanical malfunction in racing games is what ticks me off. You cant drive a car, redlining every time, for 9000 miles and not expect SOMETHING to break. Damn thing should have exploded by that point *lol*
I'd rather have no damage than unrealistic damage like in Forza. You could crash head on into a wall and simply have a bent hood. Wow. But the maker of GT said he was trying to incorporate damage. Just hope he does it right.
i heard / read the third world war will starts in 2009! thats what nostradamus prophesy! he also prophesy the 1. and 2 . world war! so before war starts and everything will be destroyed id really like to play gran turismo on psp!
i believe forza has different levels of damage settings available, from the lowest which is simply cosmetic (as you're describing) to the highest which would make the car undriveable if you went into a wall at a high speed. gamers can therefore set the damage level themselves. so for me, no damage is worse, because it results in things like the unrealistic technique gamers use to go around corners faster in gt games, which is to bounce off other cars.
Still best graphics but not fun to play no sense of speed and drifting a 50km/h which I guess you could do but not fun it feels like you need to stop to go around corners. Still looks like real life though when panned out
I would have expected it as a Psp2/4000 launch title but if the rumours of a pre christmas release is right then i guess not, anyway i stopped getting excited about it after the 40th rumoured release date.
.....but when gran turismo 5 get's released it'll be inferior. the ps4 is gonna be out by then. lol at gt for psp supposedly a "launch title" coming out for the psp2 if anything HAH! they should just skip 5 and go straight to making 6.
That'd be interesting. We're waiting a bit for GT5... but confirmation of PSP2 and some GT for it! :D I'd dig that.
i think that damage will just mess up the game, i mean they want it to make races realistic, n with incredible graphics, once u put the damage in both of those are counted out. i mean if u know anything about physics ud know that if a car crashes at that speed u wont b able to find all the parts. i dont care how realistic u think the forza damage is, if ur going 250mps and u slightly scrape the side of ur car, there is no way ur getting to the finish cuz ur probably dead. if gt5 isnt the best racing game evr i will b pissed cuz they hav been delaying 4 so long, but judging by PDs past work n the amazing content n graphics of gt5p id say we r in for one hell of a racing game
Mario Kart is still the best racing game ever
But how can no damage be considered more realistic? That's how you make it sound :-). IMO, it's about time the GT series had damage, so I REALLY hope it's in for GT5, even if it's just for show. Having said that, I hope it's more than just for show, because if I'm racing against people online, I'd hate it if gamers can use the GT cheat of deliberately crashing into me to get around a corner faster, all because there's no damage. Time penalties doesn't cut it either. If they can't add damage, then the physics should be adjusted so that cars don't just bounce off each other and continue as if nothing happened, speed should be lost so that gamers are discouraged from using this cheat.
that if they put in realistic damage since its a realistic simulator, the game will lose its fun factor because evryone will be doing burnout style takedowns. gt5 isnt about that, have u seen the documentaries on all the work they put in to make the car as close to real life as possible. now imagine ur playing with ur new nissan gtr n ur about to pass the guy in first place going at 210mps, so he hits the breaks n u rear end him. what will be left of ur car? or do u want to hit select n the damage is gone? then thers no point. im not saying damage is a bad thing, im saying it will ruin what the game is all about. if u wanna take out guys n have just a side scrape then play burnout
I'll paste the comment I made before ... "i believe forza has different levels of damage settings available, from the lowest which is simply cosmetic (as you're describing) to the highest which would make the car undriveable if you went into a wall at a high speed. gamers can therefore set the damage level themselves." Why can't this be done for GT5? Wouldn't that satisfy ALL gamers, especially when racing online? Those that want things the same as it's always been in GT can join or host sessions where there's no damage. Others can join or host sessions where the damage level is set to their liking. Some gamers may switch between no damage and up to full damage just to add variety to the racing experience. Therefore I see no reason or excuses for damage not to be included in GT5. It really is about time the series was updated in this respect, and therefore I have high hopes of this happening in GT5. :)
I meant to post MY comment of ... "If they can't add damage, then the physics should be adjusted so that cars don't just bounce off each other and continue as if nothing happened, speed should be lost so that gamers are discouraged from using this cheat." And then add your suggestion about different damage levels (although I'm not sure how that would work for the main game itself. How is it done in Forza?).
