Thanks for this huge news, Naroon! Remember that much-hullabaloo'd issue on the PS3 voice chat? Well, looks like there's a "development" to this said feature, rumor as it still may be.A VG247 source claims that he got word from another source whom they "can't name" on the said cross-title voice chat in PS3 play, and the word is good. As in it'll-be-here-by-October good. As in it-will-be-added-in-FW-update-3.10 good. Mmm-mmm...
Hold your horses, though! As mentioned above, this is still just a rumor. Don't expect Sony to buckle down to your badgering about a confirmation on this anytime soon, too. You know how they roll - they get exposed, product is leaked, they "do not comment on rumors", they eventually deny, and deny, and deny, and then they "announce" the "surprise."
We'll get a confirmation on whether this is true or not soon enough, am sure. Just sit back and enjoy your console first as it is in the meantime.

If this is true not only will I be the happiest person alive but I would expect PS3 sales to start selling even more than they are now. Until they run out of units, of course.

The reason why I said that, douche, is because I've known a lot of people who have decided to go with a 360 BECAUSE of the voice messaging and the crass game chat. That's why I say that. More people will start seeing the price difference in the long run (free online, built-in wireless, and now it has crass game chat like the 360!) since the PS3 will now have almost all the features the 360 has.
if we finally get cross game chat people will buy more even more 360 people, i have a bunch of friends that have both, but my friends that jus have 360 say they wouldn't mind getting a ps3 but it don't do every thing the 360 does like chat cross game and instant messaging
some of u may like this or not i think what would be sweet i if sony gets cross game chat and add skype to the ps3 would be killer if any of u have a psp and have used skype u knw u can then make phone calls right from the ps3 and not only that free long distant internet calls all over the world now thats sweet we need to push sony on that spread the news people we already have it on the psp now we need ps3

Those ps3 sales won't go up from that software upgrade. If you don't have a ps3, chances are you're a noob at gaming and don't know much about consoles and won't know much. Those ppl who said they got 360 b/c of voice msging, only said that out of an excuse to spend less money or said that after they got it.

A lot of games I turn down the chat feature because it can be annoying when people begin being stupid and other times it sounds like you can hear every little thing there family is saying and doing.
That's why you can turn it off. Seriously.
I just want to see it so that all the people that want it will finally shut up about it. Just like the price drop, I could care less either way. I already have a ps3, and I have a phone. This could help save the news feeds for stuff that matters. BTW-stressfactor does sound like a douche.
I usually mute other people i'm playing with, because they tend to say things i don't want my brother to hear. But this might be useful.
if there busy using cross game chat you wont have to hear them talk well as long as it mutes everyone else anyway idk how it works

Could this have something to do with the Microsoft buying out EA rumors?
Sony's slowly going through a check list (it seems) of things that are used as "reasons" for going 360 over PS3 and cross game chat is one of them. Many a time I've heard from 360 only owners that the online functionality like cross game chat and invites is one reason they like their 360s over PS3 and wouldn't nab a PS3 less those features were added. So bam, Sony makes teh playing field more level by including it... and thus yes there is the potential for more sales if those same users see that indeed sony has stepped up with said feature(s).
stressfactor381's totally uncalled-for tirade against jbwzrd213 only serves to mark himself as a hopeless 360 fanboy who wants to distract people from the fact that yet another one of Xbox's primary selling (crying?) points has forever been the 'power of Xbox live' and its cross-game chat support. But just like DTS-HD MA before it; just like Rumble support; just like Slim .... eventually Sony is going to bring this. Sony has pretty well proven with PS3 that they deliver. Maybe it takes a while longer than expected, ...but it's all come about generally. And, to say that cross-game chat isn't going to cause a jump in sales is to either be a fanboy, or have no business posting on a game-site like this. THAT will be the thing to get all those countless red-ring'ed people who had to buy 360 over-and-over to finally consider switching to a stable platform.
Forget cross game chat, remove the freakin extra PS Store icons from under the Game menu and Video menu. Thats more important to me than anything.
There's only 2 extra icons making it easier to go to sections of the PS Store.
Hopefully this will happen sooner then later and i hope and pray it does come in 3.10 This is one of the most requested features along side the infamous in-game XMB.
to any guy that bought a 360 because of voice chat...PLEASE JUMP OFF A BRIDGE! i mean who the hell walks into a store looks at ps3 which has a better game library, free online, 1% failure rate, bluray, and better graphics... Then looks at a 360 and decides to buy it because it has voice chat. WOW WOW WOW you sir should by in the Guiness Book of MORONS.
How would you play games like SOCOM, RB6, Halo, Killzone etc without voice chat? Those games require teamwork, unless you're playing against people who suck. Just mute the annoying ones, it's not hard.
revamp the PSN.. make it better or at least as good as XBL.. coz PSN really sucks.. everytime i go to XBL marketplace im kinda drawn to the 360 and wanting to switch my main console, but i cant coz i already have tons of games library for the ps3 and only a few exclusives for the 360..

Yeah, Sony said no "major" updates later this year, and by that, they meant stuff like 3.0 updates. We probably won't see any 3.50's or a 4.0 yet, but they can still further enhance the PSN experiences by adding stuff like this. I wonder if this other source is Super_Secret?
