Rumor confirmed: Fallout 3 denied classification in Australia |
Ó
The rumors have been confirmed. Bethesda's Fallout 3 (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC) has been denied of any classification (as seen in the image to the right) by the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) Board.According to the Fallout 3 page on the OFLC website, the game has been given classification of RC, which means refused classification.
This classification was apparently handed out on July 4, 2008 and means that the game cannot be sold in Australia when it does come out in other regions.
So far, no specific reasons were given out as to why the game has been refused classification. However, we can probably expect to hear more about this as fans of the game start asking "why can't I buy Fallout 3 in Australia?"

sucks to be an aussie. at least you guys get kangaroos and boomerangs.
This isn't a proper Fallout sequel, so I am glad this is getting banned.
Release it as "Oblivion with guns" and I'll support it, but don't ruin my favorite game....
Beth realize they can get the game out to the new crowd, the newbs who have never played a Fallout game before.
to what skidz says below, yeah those newbs greatly outnumber those who've played fallout before.
Oh no!! That means I'll have to spend... $20-$30 less importing the game from America or the UK than I would for buying locally!
I'll have to be careful though. At my innocent age of 20 I can be very impressionable. Just like the OFLC says, violent video games are very dangerous when exposed to people of any age. I think after I've played it I'll start blowing people away just like in the game. Fallout just presents it as such a good idea! How can I not?
Time to get my importing hat on ....
