Rumor: "Big bang" announcement from Sony this October 12 |
Ó
Rumor has it that Sony will be making a very big announcement this coming October 12. This came from the French site GamePro which said that there is something brewing in the company's offices. While Sony has yet to comment on this, analysts are predicting that this is all about a US$ 100 price drop for the PlayStation 3. If this rumor is true, it wouldn't be very surprising considering that quite a few big video game companies like Eidos, Square-Enix, and Ubisoft have voiced their stand that regarding the matter.
The timing would also be perfect considering that holiday season is approaching. We'll just have to wait until October 12 to see what Sony's big announcement is all about. Hopefully it'll be as big as their announcement of the Dual Shock 3 controller.

I hope it's a video/music download service together with a redesigned PS Store (SingStore style).
And it will happen....
''I almost wish the holiday season was here now '' ...
please let the war be over.
with or before Singstar, and Singstar is supposed to have a music download service with it. This is the big announcement.

Some of your speculations are retarded. Sony most probably won't drop $100. Probably around $50 if they do. We know Sony right? Not 100% in one direction, but 50% in all directions until they get a feel for it and then pedal to the metal when its the green light. HD-DVD addon? Are you serious? Blu-ray is Sony's codec. It's their golden child. Why introduce a competitors format. That's like selling big macs at a Burger King or Microsoft letting Bungie studios sell Halo 3 for the Wii.
What Does seem possible is the release of the Dual Shock 3 in the US market. It's already available in Japan, and usually our market isn't far off in release dates afterwards. It's not incredible technology--it's a controller that rumbles. They would be the ones to make a big deal out of it though. There isn't much to modify on it either. It's already said to work on the US SKU. I'm looking at my controller right now and there is no imprinted plastic text anywhere, so it's a simple graphics redesign of the japanese hardware. It's basically silver paint and a sticker on the back. As far as the circuit board its going to be the same hardware universally. I personally haven't opened mine up but i'm guessing it's got Nihongo printed all over the place. I'm not going to cry about it. Overall, those are the two likely "big bang" announcements.
What was the last big announcment from sony? Wasn't it some kind of forum or something on thier site? Either way I thought it was a total letdown.
Anyway I'm not going to bother speculating. Hopefully it will be something significant this time.
and hides the fact to the customers like their over 33% failure rates of the xbot before launch.....which just rip you off with $500.00
sorry dude but that wont ever happen, a simple download cant make the disk drive compatible, you would need to buy and replace the existing one disk drive. sorry for bursting ur bubble.
