RUMOR: Best Buy holding out PS3's for 1/1/07?

Best BuyThis rumorliscious news comes in from Kotaku. They're suggesting that guys planning to buy PS3's this weekend might wanna scrap the idea, and wait up until next week. Why the week-long wait?

According to their sources, Best Buy's rumored to be stocking up supplies of the console for a New Year's Eve sell, and might be telling customers they're out of stock, when in fact they're just saving up for the designated date.

The good news is that they're estimated to be carrying about 60 units per store for December 31 - plenty to go around. The bad news is there are no detail on how many of this 60 will the the 60 or 20 GB units. For the vets of PS3 and Wii launches, you know what to do...good luck.

Best Buy employees can be a pain in the ass to talk to sometimes in regards to getting the scoop on units held. I especially hate the kid that stands at the front of the store and greets everyone coming in our out of the place. They act like they have secret clearance to the goods and there for will not give you a smudget of information pertaining to what you are interested in. I remember going in there once to see when a good time would be to stop by for the Wii system and the kid was like "Sorry but we can't give that information". Of course I stood there and gave him sass about how it really wasn't a secret that they were holding them till the 3rd, but he kept to his guns and asked where I heard that info from. Man I swear, they get a power trip high standing there I tell ya. Of course the people at Toys R Us aren't at all like that. I prefer to take my business somewhere else before I venture off to Best Buy. I some how always get the employee that doesn't know his ass from his face. Ohhhh lord I'm ranting again. Anyway, I wouldn't doubt this for one bit. They are sneaky sneaky.

This isn't i was at my local bestbuy yesterday and they had tons of ps3s in stock. They had no controllers or any accessories but the circuit city across the street had plenty.

Its the Wii that is more out of stock then the PS3. I have seen PS3's in stock everywhere. Its the Wii that no-one seems to be able to find! Luckily I already got my Wii! Woohoo! :)

thats cause your dumb ass is probably asking someone nowhere near the dept. i wouldnt doubt you probably go into appliances or just grab some random associate on the floor who wouldnt have anything to do with the ps3.



and to let you all know.. the ad i believe is THIS sunday not the 1st. dont whine about how they hold them. they are placed as available in an advertisment as of a certain day. if we sold them all then they would have a bunch of whinners on the day they promised to have them. atleast you KNOW when they will be there now insted of lining up every day with hopes... only to have them dashed away

Lots of PS3s at Walmart today too. Went in and saw one at the return counter. the girl said there are somany because people had given up by now to buy one. Almost got one until I realized how much more fun my Wii is at the moment until new games come out for ps3, not to mention my xbox360 with it's library. I can wati a few more months :)

every ps3 is unavailable in sugar land tx. I went to best buy and they had none availabe. MY BEST FREIND WORKS THERE AND HE SAID THAT BEST BUY WAS NOT HOLDING ANY PS3 AND HE IS THE MANAGER.

I know what is going on. One of the employees at my bestbuy was going to be fired that week so he said he could give me all the info i wanted and he wouldnt care if he got in trouble. Today, 12/27, they have 40 60gb versions and 1 20gb version in stock somewhere in the back. But they are holding them until sunday the 31st because they advertised in the newspaper that they will have 40 units per store guaranteed. They are handing out tickets again. Hope that helps.
