Have you checked your Xbox Live recently? You should, because MTV Games and Harmonix have already dropped the title update for the Rock Band franchise. This Disc Export will allow you to get 55 tracks from the original Rock Band (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii) for play in the upcoming Rock Band 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2).

Just go to the extras option in the menus, and there you will find an expert disc tab for you to expand in advance your Rock Band 2 library. Harmonix' goal is to send out a whopping 500 songs for the game by the end of the year.

Before you go all download-happy, though, here are a couple of important things to take note of:
  • Online connection required
  • Nominal fee of US$ 4.99 (400 MS Points) for export of Rock Band soundtrack to compensate music licensors for expanded use
  • The following Rock Band disc tracks will not be available for export into Rock Band 2:
    • Paranoid (Black Sabbath cover)
    • Run to the Hills (Iron Maiden cover)
    • Enter Sandman (Metallica)
  • Title update will also be released simultaneously in Europe
  • Europe will not be getting Through the Monsoon (Tokio Hotel) for export into the future European release of Rock Band 2
The Rock Band 2 game disc will originally hold 84 tracks on top of the additional 20 free DLC tracks post-launch.

PlayStation owners out there, don't fret. It's said that your goods will be following shortly in a few weeks. We'll keep you posted for more info, but in the meantime, at least you now have a clearer idea of what's in store for you with this update.

As much as that's true

Spell-check function will not catch a correctly spelled word homonym, my friend; but kudos to you for finding it.
