Modern Warfare 2 Killstreak - Image 1

If you've seen this Modern Warfare 2 trailer, chances are you know something about Killstreaks by now. Infinity Ward hasn't fully divulged the 411 on the game's Killstreak system yet, but community manager Robert Bowling did shed some light on it in a recent PSM3 feature.

"You can have a three killstreak or a fifteen killstreak if you want, or something like the AC-130 [firing down in black and white from an airborne gunship] is one of the highest killstreaks you can select," Bowling said. "You take control of that and can fire down for thirty seconds, blow guys up."

OK, that's not really clear as day, but as far as I understand it, you can choose to activate Killstreaks as they come and concentrate on the ones that require a lower number of kills or just keep the streak going to gain access to the higher-level ones. PSM3 also suggests that newcomers can stick to the lower-end rewards while veterans can go after the bigger ones.

Whatever it means, we'll all find out when Modern Warfare 2 launches on November 10, 2009, on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

» DO THEY STACK?

1ST!!!!-----LIKE A BOSS.

But seriously.....do they not stack? or do you set them up and have to reach them in order to activate them? Like if you have a 10 kill streak set up, are there no streaks leading up to it? like a 3, 5, or 7 kill streak?

I'M ON A BOAT!

Nah I'm guessing that once you use it up then you'll have to start your streak back up again. On a video it showed that they put a new thing for each kill streak so like he had something for 3, 4, 5, 6. If you could stack them then you'd just be unleashing a constant load of kill streak things.

» Ah I get it now

I was watching the trailer and noticed the guy got a 3 kill streak then a 4 kill streak then nothing after that. My guess is you can choose one perk per tier, say a max of three rewards. The better the reward the higher the kill requirement. So lets say you want UAV then air strike and then the AC130. It would be 3 kills 5 kills and 11 kills. (They confirmed the AC130 to be rewarded after 11 kills I think) That means that theres something better thats worht 15 kills though and that I can't imagine.

This opens up a lot of possiblities I think, say you're playing with friends and doing really good. No point in wasting your potential when everyones got UAV, switch to a class that has something better. Can't wait for this game.
