MGS4 PS3 - Image 1Aaaand: restock! Solid Snake's 80GB bundle is available once again on Amazon. Just in case you're looking to buy a PS3 unit (for yourself, or a friend, a brother, your girlfriend, your granny, who knows?), this one's worth a shot. The SKU was discontinued before, but now it's back.

Originally released last June, the PS3-MGS4 80GB bundle is going for US$ 499. This gets you the PS3 unit, a copy of Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, a controller, and a download coupon for Pain.

Just so you know, this is not the Gun-metal Gray unit. This is, however, the backwards compatible version, so that's a plus.

This is the model that I have, and I'm loving it. i'd be disappointed if I had to settle for the 3rd gen model, so if anyone has the chance to grab this one instead, they should definitely go for it.

» Odd...

Just like the 'sudden surplus' of Gunmetal Gray units that hit Amazon last October ....where exactly did these come from?

I'm wondering if the deal Konami made with Sony wasn't just for the limited release window, ...but actually for limited periodic production runs.

Either that, or neither these or the Gunmetal units actually sold all that well in June of last year ---and I rather find that hard to believe. (If you wanted a PS3 with a different color, the Gray is still the ONLY option in an American console; If you wanted a PS3 with extra hard drive space last summer, why would you opt for a non-MSG4 one w/o backwards-compatibility when you can get the one with it?)

Just seems to me that there's another production run going on these "limited edition" pieces. Not a bad thing, sure: just rather clandestine as to what's really going on.

This bundle sold incredibly well when it came out. PS3 had the top spot on console sales, and Amazon.com was completely crushed by the demand. They sold their stock in about five minutes, and their website was nonfunctional due to the excessive bandwidth. Sony needs to understand people want this model.

» love it

Bought one of these the first day it came out and even though it is backwards compatible, its done by software emulation and not every game works perfectly but still a great buy!

I would only give it up for one of the original 60gb PS3's

To be honest, I played MGS4 and I didn't really want to continue after the second act.

Maybe it's because I haven't played the previous games, or because I kept dying and dying so much that it got annoying.
