Resistance: Fall of Man - Image 1

In an interview with gaming news site MyGEN, Insomniac games President and CEO Ted Price confirms that Insomniac does indeed have plans for future iterations of their PlayStation 3 game Resistance: Fall of Man.

When asked about patch updates and downloadable content, Price took the time to highlight the first patch for the game that's already out, and the time and effort they took to balance the game experience. A bit of conversation about multiplayer features followed that, and then Price was asked if they'll be able to top the already great weapon set in Resistance in future versions of RFOM. He had this to say: "Looking at what people proposed during Resistance, and seeing the excitement about the game at the company, I feel confident that as the franchise grows, we'll be able to surprise people over and over again."

There was a slight bit of talk about the Ratchet and Clank franchise again, and then he then goes to say this: "What I said today on stage is kind of a coy way of talking about the future. We designed Resistance: Fall of Man to be the first chapter  in a larger franchise."

More from the oddly mutated Nathan Hale in the future? Sure! Why not. This is definitely good news for those of you folks who were worried that Resistance will end up as a one-shot launch title. At least now we know that they intended the thing to be bigger than it currently is.

If you want to catch the rest of the interview, feel free to head to it via our "read" link below.

» Who needs killzone to combat Halo?

I'm thinkin' that Resistance is a lot better than Halo, so I feel we should let killzone step aside and make way for Resistance. Don't get me wrong though, I love Halo to death, I think it's great but as far as shooters go, Resistance is my favorite hands down

» GIVE ME A HIGH 5

I am so amazed with RFOM because i think it is the best so far even though i have halo, halo2. But there is something more to RFOM. ( the environment, realistic, intensity etc)

» Resistance rocks!

The game is awesome because it isn't like every other FPS. The story line is great and the weapons are just amazing. Everything about it except the split screen co-op (would of wished for Full Screen like Halo does) is just amazing. I can't wait for this!

I love Resistance FoM. I can't wait for the next one.

» I don't know about that

I mean I think RFM is a great game but Killzone is just going to be awsome. The game's budget is over 21 million dollars and they have about120 developers working on the game, and apparently some aspects of the game al already better than the trailer at E3. » yup

same here man...... almost done playing it tho.

» this is up to you

Obviously, this game is better than the Halos in every technical respect (considering Halo was a last-gen console). It's not as colorful, I guess. Gameplay-wise, I'd say it's similar, but the guns Resistance are more varied and this results in more varied gameplay (though I do miss that energy sword). Online in Resistance feels the same, except it is much more frantic because of all the people playing at once. My personal opinion is yes, Resistance is better. But Halo's colorfulness and energy sword might draw you in.

» i gotta go against the grain

It must just be me, or maybe others like me are just skipping this post because I was just about to.

I think RFOM as a whole, wasn't really that great. I mean it's nothing I haven't seen in a PC game in the last few years. It is probably the best of the launch titles for the PS3, which isn't saying much.

Yes, I am saying RFOM should not be getting this much credit. Sorry Insomniac. Oh yeah, the picture on that "Interview with CEO Ted Price" makes him look like a trick-ass mark.

So yeah, there's my opinion on this "Halo Killer".

» Hi

I dont usually come to the PS3 boards but I was just curious to see what the fellow competition was cooking up. I checked this one out and i noticed all you guys are comparing this to Halo and Not Gears? Im not looking for a fight or anything Im just curious as to why you guys dont compare to Gears.

You folks have a nice day

by David - 2007-02-26 19:11
» how?

Which is why RFOM is not that great a game. But you still have to account for how long each system has been out for video game developers to probe and discover.

Although for me, Gears of War is in a field of it's own, no overall rated game as of this date compares to it as a FPS (considering both single + multiplayer).

» UR A FAKE **S LIAR

U should not be in the forum anyways and we don't need u in here. u say halo is your game and you like it; then take it some where else. because this is RFOM forum not a Halo forum moron!! and coming to think of it, you sound like you don't own any ps3. So get ur **s out of here u loser. next time read the title before you enter any forum.

by XTRA - 2007-02-27 01:24
» GEEZ DON"T U EVER F****** get it?

GEARS of WAR is not FPS game u idiot and by the way if you want to compare it to any of the ps3 titles why don't u try MGS4.

by Jasper1605 - 2007-02-27 10:18
» Of course

Of course Killzone is going to be a great game, I meant nothing against it when I said that it should step aside. BUT Resistance 2 will be right up there enough to compete with halo 3 and KZ2. Basically, the hype that Halo 3 is getting/will be getting can be very easily combatted with now not only Killzone, but Resistance II :)

by Jasper1605 - 2007-02-27 10:25
» More of a Hype War

I compared it to Halo 3 instead of GoW for 2 reasons: 1. I've never played Gow so I can't have my own opinion and 2. RFOM II isn't out KZ isn't out and Halo 3 isn't out. So I was shooting more or less for some "hype" battle type stuff. That's my reasoning :)

» wow

xtra, you ***** fanboy. nice to see fellow ps3 fans with such maturity. i mean i'm a big fan of the ps3 but i don't go around labeling myself a flamer. although i'm just one to further fuel your mature comments.

so what if the camera is over the shoulder in gears. the gameplay objectives and controls are virtually the same.

please go ahead and build on other people's first impressions of ps3 fans being *****s and douche bags. next time stick that ***** ALL the way up your ass before starting a post, that way you can come out full-flamed.

by the way, MGS4 isn't out yet.

Idiot.
