Resist temptation: Killzone 2 promo copies can't play online |
Ó
Ok, eBay lurkers. If you're looking to score yourself a copy of Killzone 2 promotional copies, don't count on getting early access to multiplayer. Guerilla Games said they won't be able to play online with those copies. Says Guerrilla's Seb Downie:
I would strongly suggest not buying this. It is unclear whether this is a review build or something else. I can't tell from the pic if it is [the] final version or not. If not, you will at no point be able to play online with it. Also I am sure it says on the disc 'Not for resale' so this guy is breaking the rules.
Guerilla Games clarified on this when reports of promo copies were spotted being sold on eBay - for a whopping GBP 200 (US$ 290) I might add. Basically you'll just be paying four times the price for single-player. Whoop-dee-doo.
There's a reason why the discs are labeled "Not for Re-Sale" you know. They've been distributed for review purposes. And also to make a quick buck, apparently.
It's only a few more days, anyway

The source doesnt say anything official about the servers not going up before the 27th. Its talking about the promo copies not being able to go online ever.
Also the game is released on the 25th for mainland europe, they wouldnt keep the online away from them for 2 days.
You're right. I must have taken my assumptions for granted. Sorry bout that. Fixing the article.
I'm not gone spend 290 bucks for a game that doesn't even know if its the final copy or what. Thats why I reserve my copy at GameStop :)
February 27th - here we come! Friday, get out of school and hitting Game Stop two blocks away from my house. Heck yea! Picking up my copy.
Already played the Demo, and played before when the Beta testing was out. Which in fact I got in :) .
KILLZONE 2!!!! In the mean time I'll stick to Killzone: Liberation and kill my friends online, its addicting.
Some people are buying them just to have them you know. They may even know it has no MP, they don't care.
You'd be surprised what people will pay for random crap on eBay just because they want it
people are trying to buy the demo. If you cant reserve it in your area, just make a European account and download it.
