Fresh meat from Famitsu! (Which is already a cue for you: all info below applies for Japan - for now...) The recent issue of the Japanese gaming magazine reveals a bulk of info for Resident Evil 5. Grab your chainsaw wielding Sackboys, this might get bloody.

Demo not for everyone. Famitsu's announced that the Biohazard 5 demo will be available in Xbox Live on December 5. That's next week - rawr! Unfortunately, they didn't mention any PS3 version. If you're feeling bitter about not getting a PSN demo, hear this: not all XBL users will get it either. Turns out that you'll have to be a Gold Member to get it.

There's still no announcement of the demo hitting other regions, but with the way that the XBL network goes, it's safe to assume that North America and Europe may eventually get it right about the same time as Japan does.

The demo itself contains two stages which Capcom's already brought to the game shows in the past. The demo is playable on offline and co-op.

Release date bump up. More good news for Japan: the game gets an early release. It was originally scheduled for March 12, but now, they're saying that it will hit retail shelves (again, in Japan!) on March 5 - a full week ahead of schedule.

Still no news whether the bump up on schedule also applies for other regions. For now, Resident Evil 5 is still dated for a March 13 release in the west. Yes, that's Friday the 13th.

Limited edition. Famitsu also details the limited edition for Biohazard 5. It's going to be exclusively available on Capcom's e-portal. JPÂ¥ 12,800 (around US$ 135) for the limited edition gets you the following:
  • 32-page all color art book (with staff commentary)
  • BSAA waist pouch (like what Chris Redfield wears in the game)
  • 2GB USB memory card shaped like an anti virus item from the game
  • packaged in a deluxe box
Again, since the info comes from Japan, these only apply for Japan - the demo, the release, the limited edition. Standby for more info for other regions as we get them. (That's if there's more info for other regions.)

Capcom's Resident Evil 5 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 is to be released on March 13.

i feel sorry for all ps3 only resi fans, if didnt have a 360 i would be fuming at M$, no doubt theyve throwed a truck load of cash at capcom,

they better stop doing this because im not buying anymore sub after this month is up, why pay when i can play for free on the PSN

» Looks like Capcom is scared

...and trying to mitigate sales of Left 4 Dead. A demo 4 months before scheduled release? --What's the point?

» huh

I wonder how much M$ paid for this? I wonder how much money M$ lost this generation for trying to buy everything out? They do this and is only a couple of million consoles away from PS3.

Of course they do have a lot of money.

» "Catch my Drift"

Sorry but for MS to stop gamers from getting demos or exclusive content is patheic... now if the devs made it exclusive for that system thats fine but for MS to go and buy them out with millions of dollars instead of investing in to another ***** system (they could call it the xbox180 handheldLOLJK) like if im gonna buy an xbos sub. just for excluvise content get real MS

by Cortador - 2008-11-26 06:40
» Hmmm

Sure they must have lost a lot of money on this generation, but why should we care? They are bringing top notch content for the consumers. So basically it is M$ that is losing money(IF they actually are lol) while the consumers enjoy all this content.

» Doubt it

it'll come to PSN also Capcom has thier own section in PSN store plus its Jap were PS3 is still dominant

ONLY reason why not is PSN dont have "Gold" members. Then thiers Qore but I dont think Sony would want to affiliate Qore with 360 Gold Members especially with all the complaining. But then again they WOULD do that.

» The subscribers are paying

they are not losing much money if any at all... you paying for membership feeds MS with the money they use too ***** DLC... people that pay for lower subscriptions not get something exclusive to Xbox is weak they helped pay them people off to LOL

Yeah I don't care if they lose money as long as I get the great entertainment out of it.

XBL does get their money back. That's 50 bucks a year from millions of players. I'm not sure if it's 50 since I don't have XBL with my 360. I only play online on the PS3.

i dont have XBL either but i know how it works and 50 a year from millions of players thats almost 100 mil a year, i beleive they've sold 2 mil consoles

» facepalm

My god are you an idiot.

You honestly believe MS is the reason there no word on a PS3 demo?

It's entirely up to Capcom, a Japanese developer and publisher, how and when they release their demos and on which platforms.

Just because the PS3 demo hasn't been announced doesn't mean it won't be comming.

If it wasn't, Capcom clearly would have said "There's no PS3 demo planned".

Right now, there just aren't any details of a PS3 demo, YET.

maybe if you read it, i said if the devs did it, it would be fine

» whatever

You're still a fool.

End of.

» Online play on the PS3 is free because nobody would pay for it.

I have a PS3 and a 360 but I get most of my games for the 360 because of the online play and the fact that most of my friends use the 360 the majority of the time. Most PS3 owners dont havwe a microphone so when you play online over PSN you cant communicate. Plus I am not a fan of the PS3 controller, I dont like the location of the thumbsticks.
