Resident Evil 5 - Image 1Resident Evil 5 (PS3, Xbox 360) seems to be coming together rather well. From the Co-op mode, to the improved AI, to the inventive use of next gen lighting (or lack thereof).

Capcom's RE5 producer Masachika Kawata touched on all these things in an interview with CVG. The game game is an "evolution" from Mikami's RE4, he proudly said.

When asked what games most influenced his team during the creation of RE5, he pointed to none other than 2k Games' Bioshock (PS3, Xbox 360, PC). "It's a classic game which really utilized the next gen power very well. The world is very strong and very believable, and the whole game was quite inspiring."

Kawata addressed the concerns about alleged racist undertones saying:

Following the tradition of the Resident Evil franchise, you'll remember from Code Veronica - the Progenitor virus comes from Africa so we wanted to go back to the root of where the virus originated. For the people who think it's racist... well, we can't please everyone.

Right Attitude

"For the people who think it's racist... well, we can't please everyone." Thats EXACTLY what Sony should have said with regards the LittleBigPlanet fiasco.

and I thought..

RE5 was inspired more by ....RE4? So far I don't see a lot of difference except it looks better. It was quite a jump from RE3 to 4... but it looks like they just kept every formula the same for RE5 (ok, with some really small twists)

lol, yes

It's RE4 with new graphics, a new story, new guns (I hope), new AIs for the zombies, more zombies, new coop mode, etc. Finally, yes it still uses the same combat system, but it's a great thing since I loved it. I hope they have updated it at least a bit still. For the bioshock inspiration, yeah maybe, but who influenced bioshock? lol, it was the resident evil games...

true

RE5 looks alot like RE4 but i don't see that as a problem. Why change a winning formula? RE4 is imho still one of the best game experiences i've ever had. RE5 is RE4 going next-gen. Which is a good thing.
