The guys over at Spong have recently managed to get hold of Sony Computer Entertainment UKÂ’s managing director, Ray Maguire, and in the process, get some answers to some important questions related to the upcoming European debut of the PS3.One question which was posed was the number of available PS3s at launch, to which Maguire then answers that at least 220,000 units have been allotted for the UK alone. He also adds, " (I) will try to get as many units as I possibly can", as they are expecting to have "the biggest launch that the games industry has ever seen, in terms of day one numbers into the marketplace".
Another issue that he addressed during the interview was why there will be none of the cheaper 20GB PS3 models available at launch. He explains that,
The response that we’re getting back from the marketplace – not only from retail, but also from consumers – is that what they really want is the best. They want to go for the wireless model; they do understand that the PlayStation 3 is a machine which has a lot of downloads available right from day one, and that they want to put their own media on it from day one.
He also quips that he is pleased that the PS3 will finally reach Europe after a number of delays. According to him, this is a very positive thing as it finally gives "people a chance to see exactly what the machine can do first-hand".

So there is your choice NO CHOICE pay for the high end version or nothing sighhh.
So what about all the existing 20 gig users when more than 20 gig starts getting used ? upgrade or stuffed.

Upgradeable ? he was talking about the 20gig NOT being available how you going to upgrade something you dont have a choice to buy ?.
Its no big secret that the 360 are getting much bigger harddrives soon anyway (its in the official mag) and anyway you dont pay $100 for the harddrive you pay for the higher end bundle,once the larger HDs become availible on their own of course they are going to be cheaper.
Seriously. All you do is fill the comments with FUD. You add nothing to QJ at all. No one will every give you credit for anything other than posting biased links over and over, that really contain no relivance. People use you name to make fun of you, nothing more. Same with the vietone clones.
No one will want a 20gb machine, it's like a cut down PS3. The lack of WiFi makes a huge difference, apart from that, I wouldnt have cared about a 60gb HDD (I will be putting in another one anyway).
It was like the Core Xbox360, people brought it because they couldnt get hold of the premium.
BTW: At least 3 of those 220,000 units are mine..one to keep and 2 to eBay to fools
After people have realized that you cant gouge on ebay anymore. The console just dont sell a double markup. I think this launch will show more acurately how the console will launch vs the US launch which had upto and over %50 of console being bought to profit gouge. And i love how these marketers spins news. We didnt see a demnad for the 20GB, blah blah. Kinda like how rumble could be incorperated with the Sixaxis becasue of.....interferance. I guess SOny still thinks its consumers a retards. Never the less, should be an interesting launch. Seeing all the chavs lined up, ready to drop there entire savings, ROTFL (Sry, couldnt help myself)

How many Ps3 do you think each shop will receive. I am number 20 on the list at the big Virgin stor in the manchester arndale. Do you rekon i will receive on on the day of release?
