You gotta see this to believe it. The undead are using motorcycles to chase after you in Resident Evil 5 (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3). Aren't you thrilled by the prospect? Well, we'd rather not have that in real life, but in-game, that's pretty cool.

Here are some more screenshots released by Capcom for their upcoming Horror-Strategy title set to come out on March 2009.

what's up with the axe with the chain wrapped around it in the second picture?, it's got really bad textures compared to the graphics in the rest of the screens

by Matt-N - 2008-09-26 23:24
» I thought that too!

I don't think the textures are the problem, it's really low polygon.

Mind you, if that thing's being swung around, there's no need to waste system resources on a high polygon model!

» Hmmmm

It does seem like the game is low in poloygons, a few objects like the tyres on the motorbikes have edges that form a circular shape....odd, I would've thught next gen gaming could get rid of this polygonal problem but alas it seems not to be. Same for the textures, I am constantly suprised at low res textures being used in some places that I think need high res to give it that wow factor...

As Matt-N say's this is most probably to save on the system recources and data size, especially for the 360 seeing as the disc's can't even hold half the data of a blu-ray...

» Well...

In a screenshot yeah it looks like crap but in-game you're probably not going to notice it ever, plus the games still what six months off? But right now, yeah I agree looks bad.

» what the?

Zombies on bikes?

I though their too slow to do something like that?

by Darkthunder90 - 2008-09-27 12:45
» ...

That's why they use the bikes!

by platon - 2008-09-27 13:31
» LOL

But no Binary, Capcom said that this time, the zombies will be fast and aggressive. You'll have to keep up with them to survive this time around! A little bit like RE4 was, since they were smarter and way faster than any other RE games done before!

» No there NOT Zombies on bikes, there Las Plagas.

Las Plagas are NOT the same as Zombies from RE1, 2, 3, and the rest of the game except for RE4 and 5, there parasitic creatures that inhabit human bodies and after the egg hatches, they grow up and start controlling the human.

Into doing what they want, thus they can speak, fight, and do everything a human being can do but if you damage them enough times, they will pop out of the head, the parasite and try to kill you.

There were 3 forms in RE4, Larva form, which is when they are first in childform, then theres the half larva, half full form of the Las Plagas, which is in middle but deadly because they can kill you in one hit, and final phase, insect looking version.

People, if you havent noticed already, Capcom is going into a different direction, there no longer using the zombie concept, there using Shinji Mikamis creations, the Las Plagas.

The dudes you kill in Resident Evil 5 ARE NOT ZOMBIES, THERE LAS PLAGAS, SAME CREATURES FROM RE4!

Stop confusing them as zombies, zombies do not think for themselves, Las Plagas do.

Las Plagas act like human beings, zombies act like hungry rotting people that love your flesh.

Zombies have no minds, Las Plagas do.

Stop mixing it up.

by L0d1z - 2008-09-27 22:53
» I agree

People these days mix up alot of monsters..

I heard people saying that the monsters in

silent hill and dead space are zombies... but thats

just wrong.. and it angers me ( stupid I know )...

the monsters in re4 and re5 are NOT zombies period.

» THEY ARE NOT ZOMBIES

IF YOU WANT ZOMBIES PLAY RE1, 2, OR 3!

by FOURTHxSURVIVOR - 2008-09-28 08:29
» Actually....

They aren't Las Plagas either; you're right about the "no longer zombie" part but these creatures come from a strain of the Progenitor virus (whether there is a connection between these creatures and the RE4 Las Plagas has never been mentioned only that it is a similar theme of virus that grows inside the human). Las Plagas couldn't be in the light, and these creatures clearly are capable of being in direct sunlight (ie, the flying ones); so the fact that they are no longer zombies is true they are not Las Plagas either - they are something new and at best are a different strain of the Las Plagas virus but not the EXACT same.
