Qur'an in LittleBigPlanet poster feels "partially responsible" for delay, sends apologies

Sad PS3 - Image 1NSider has posted an apology at the NeoGaf forums for "partially causing a one week delay of LittleBigPlanet." As you may very well know (or in case you don't know), the ruckus started when a post was made at the EU PlayStation boards yesterday saying that two lines from the Qur'an were used in the music.

The poster (with EU PS boards username solid_08) then said that they do find the use of texts from Qur'an in music - we're assuming those outside of religious hymns - as "deeply offending". Here's the exact quote from his post:

We Muslims consider the mixing of music and words from our Holy Quran deeply offending. We hope you would remove that track from the game immediately via an online patch, and make sure that all future shipments of the game disk do not contain it.

And now, NSider (if he is the same as solid_08) is issuing an apology as he feels responsible for Sony's pullout of all LBP discs. According to his new post:

I didn't mean to do it but here goes:

I'm sorry for partially causing a one week delay of LittleBigPlanet. I'm sorry Sony has to go through all the trouble of pulling the game from stores and replacing them with patched versions. I definitely know what it feels like to have a game delayed.

The possibility that Sony would delay the game didn't even cross my mind. I thought that they will do nothing about it for weeks then quietly release a patch much later. I'm sorry. :(

There, there. Delays do happen. As to the legitimacy of the reason behind Sony's pullout, we can go on and on forever debating about it, and still, it wouldn't matter -- because it's Sony's call.

Anyway, it's just a week-long delay. Am sure you can wait a bit more . You've waited longer, right (MGS4's three years in the making and one-time delay, remember)?

Wow, you guys sure are a bunch of Douchebags.

Do you realise you're actually giving Muslims a reason to hate on you?

I think they have the right to be offended.

Why breed anger and hatred amongst gamers?

We dont need politics in our already targeted gaming community.

Let's just all try to enjoy the games for what they are and leave religion out of them...

» HUH?

Since when did muslims have access to this type of technology? I thought the dali lama got rid of all that stuff. All hail racism ... let the game be released, ya quacks. Instead of recalling, just send out a patch disc compatible when u load the game up. And whoever has a ps3, has internet anyways. even the slums of iraq have internet.

» Dali lama?

lol what does the Dali lama have to do with the muslims?

He's a bhuddist.

I was also curious as to how the Muslims were able to find out so soon about the lyrics being in the game - maybe they have muslims devs on the team?

You'd be surprised how many countries have the internets dude..

» It's little Big Planet NOT GTA4

You people are not smart. It's not like Mm wants to offend anyone, there was no huge outcry from Muslims just one guy pointing out how they could be offended.

This game is not the game that wants to stir the pot, it's supposed to be a safe game.

And for you idiots who want levels that bash Muslims, don't make them one of your three public levels or you will get banned. Now that would be funny.

And to theFatDouche Muslims are in just about every country in the world. And as far as quacks go Christians are sure neck and neck with Muslims.

You idiots are the same kind of people that hate the Iraqi's for fighting against the US even though the US attacked them for no reason. They are bad people for fighting off occupation, yeah right.

Sadly, I kinda agree.. I would've said it with fewer curses and in regards to the article, I think it's nice he's taking responsibility for what he did, and Sony could have easily created that patch but for some reason decided to just recall the game, so he's right, he's partially responsible but it's more on the side of Sony.

.....and a muslim. I dont think I would have been offended by the songs. However, It would have caught me off guard to hear a reliigous scripture remixed in some pop song. Now being a musician myself, I can understand the song composer heard something cool and decided to mix it, unaware of its meaning. Heck, I do that in my compositions too. The gentleman who sent Sony the notice, did not expect them to react this way or quickly. That was 100% their call and I respect them for it. Now Mr. solid_08 is apologizing for causing such a ruckus. That shows compassion. The non-civilized crazy muslim some of picture would not have done that. For those of you with the negative remarks on muslims, please draw your conclusions from your own research rather than the news. Islam is a beautiful religion of 1.2 billion followers. Less than 15% of muslims are actually arabs, you know, the guys the news only shows.

I see why your stressed, you're a dumbass. I understand you were brainwashed by a Catholic priest. Don't worry it's normal to blindly follow someone you've been involved in a sexual relationship with when it starts at such a young age. How did it happen? Where you on your way back from your first Klan rally, when he explained that everyone at the rally does it..It's what makes you all brothers.

Well at least now you all have similar stories to tell while you sit around the campfire at your "mobile home" parking lot, drinking Natural Light.

Besides Obama is just as white as he is black, Dumb_ss.

My religious opinion _ Christians are as bad or worse, than any other religion.

They get mad if you say "Happy Holidays" because it doesn't " honor" Jesus. Like taking a pagan holiday where men had sex with each other and using it bring glory to God makes any sense.

by Musev - 2008-10-19 07:05
» *sigh*

Muslims always assume its because of the news? The problem is a lot of muslims will always put other muslims first and always make excuses for the real scumbag muslims

for example the ignorant idiot above (meaning Datnizzle) starts insulting Christians for no reason saying the same old crappy defence Christians are just as bad if not worse. that simply isn't true they may have been on par at one stage in history BUT do you notice how nobody takes Christians seriously anymore? but pull out all the stops to avoid offending muslims... I bet mass protests threating beheadings (even by so called moderate muslims) and scuicide bombings have something to do with that

another thing is because muslims all seem to believe theres nothing wrong with anything they do they cant understand why some of us dont like them and dont agree with the way they think because as far as they are concerned they are doing nothing wrong. Which probably wouldn't be a problem if they wasn't so convinced their way is the only way and WILL do anything to get their way at whatever cost

basicly you cant see the reason people have a problem with muslims is because of muslims whatever excuses or reasons you cant try and use to make it everyone elses fault its not

sort of like that person the everybody dislikes but he thinks its everybody else not him.

ps Im not a christian.. I mean believe whatever make you feel better but ALL religions are nothing more than cults imo

btw this isn't meant to be offensive just honest!

I dont give a toss what other people do with their lives but muslims need to stop acting like they are the victims in everything because they simply aren't!!

Datnizzle you are a joke. You are a prime example of why people dislike muslims. Not that Im defending stressfactor381 his comment isn't even worth taking notice of, he is trolling.

by Shazman1984 - 2008-10-19 08:07
» Okay,

I believe everyone has a right to defend themselves and look out for their own. Im sure Africans cant be too happy bout RE5, or the Germans in the hundreds and hundreds of WWII games. This incident is so ridiculously small. Its Sony's choice. If you want to get angry, get angry at them. not muslims.

As for the retard terrorists, those are our hillbilly rednecks, uneducated morons who twist religon for their own political agenda. I will never defend them.

As for the muslims at rallys, If someone invaded your country for no reason and strarted killing innocent people including women and children, what are you gonna do, blog it? no.

.......hehe, kinda makes me laugh, a bunch of gamers on qj discussing politics, I love it. Everyone is entitled to their own religious and political beliefs. All y'all here, including the ones hating on muslims, I'll game with you guys anyday.

Oh yeah, I didnt mean to offened rednecks, just using you as an example. sorry.

Actually the protests Im talking about were nothing to do with war. a good example would be the recent cartoons of your prophet.

I've never heard any muslims condemn the actions of those protesters for what they were saying they wanted to do in fact quite the opposite

I've know a few (now ex) muslims leave the religion because they dont agree with it

but yea your outlook doesn't seem bad shame more like you dont speak out where and when it matters imo

by Musev - 2008-10-19 09:28

» "muslims all seem to believe"

The reason no one respects Christians anymore is because most don't take their own faith seriously.

Have you ever talked to a Muslim and asked what he believes, I have had many tell me that terrorist give them all a bad name.

Everything you said about MUslims also apply to Christians, that's my point. If you can't see that you're very ignorrant.

at the end of the day it's sony's call, and im sure they see it as their killer app. but one thing you got to remember about political things, it's the media that will make you look good or bad, and im sure sony dont want to look bad, with people saying something like sony is racist or something. also i see alot of muslim bashin here. which comes to show the media influenced gamers we have. yes im a muslim. but that dont make me evil or a terrorist or anything.(it's like kids with hoody's, people will assume they are upto no good, by just how they look)

muslims class the area I live in as a muslim area

my opinion is my own.

My main point is muslims may have been given a worse name by the extremists BUT muslims do not help themselves because they defending the extremists (or trying to deflect attention by bringing other religions into it)

all you keep doing is bringing christians into it for no reason, Do you think everyone that isnt muslim is christian? or that its only christians that have any problem with muslims.. because its not.
