PlayStation Network Card: the 5000 Yen card - Image 1

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has just announced that there will be some new Edy cards coming out for the PlayStation Network on December 13.

For those not familiar with the Edy system, it's basically the Japanese equivalent of the Microsoft or Wii Points cards, except they can be used for multiple purposes. Much like the PlayStation Network Ticket that came before them, these Edy cards are used specifically to top up PlayStation Network accounts so that users can purchase things digitally through PSN.

These PlayStation Network cards can be purchased in 3000 and 5000 yen varieties once December 13 rolls along, so if you're one of our Japanese readers out there, you may want to prepare some spare change to buy yourself a couple of these cards.

» finally...

That take so long to them... they needed since day one but oh well... is better sooner than later... just bring it here in the states and everywhere... I can buy with my credit card here in Puerto Rico (I guess we are the only caribbeans that can from what I read in the forums) but many other people can't or are childs or can't use a credit card and can't download all the add ons and PSN games that is a lot better than the arcades ones in xbox live

» whack

sony is not supporting/pushing this PSN card enough, almost all retail game stores here in Narita Japan dont even know what the hell are PSN Playstation Cards.

and darn its very hard to find convenience stores that offer those cards, mainly Family Mart and Ministop, all other stores dont even know playstation cards are. worst of all Family Mart and Ministop only gives receipts with the serial/pin number and not actual collectible prepaid cards.

oh the cards dont work on other territories too.
