French site Jeux France reports that PlayStation Network director Susan Nourai recently revealed the figures registered after the fourth month of activity of Sony's online service. She revealed 600, 000 registered users all combining for 3.7 million downloads.

"We will continue to (make) evolve/move this service into something that all our fans want. Our goal is to make it possible to the users to reach PlayStation Network any time and of any place."

Sony officials are expecting a growth in the PSN community's population as the year winds up because of the recent launch of the high-end console in PAL territories. We'll keep you updated on the PSN's progress as more news is made available.

» what the hell?

Is the 600,000 members of PSN worldwide? If yes, that's pathetic! 5 million XBOX 360 owners are willing to pay for their online and sony can't even give it away?

Definately seems like more people would be registered out of the 2.5 million PS3 sales.

Better give away more movies that require registering, since that helps sony's blu ray "sales" and the number of PSN members.

» Cool.

Hot and it will only get much better specially with Hom3 coming out soon.

Surprising it's that low. They offered Casino Royal for free if you registered. Also I have any account and I don't even a PS3.

Thats because previous Xbox Live users could use the same account on the Xbox360.

How many Xbox Live accounts were created unique on the Xbox360?

600,000 users of the million that was shipped to europe... not bad

Nevertheless the EU store is almost ignored by Sony. We have like a third of the stuff thats on the US store. Good thing you can log in to both, but I don't think that should be something you need to do.

I have an Xbox Live account but that's cause i registered for live online, then just decided I didn't want to pick up a 360...

» Response to 'what the hell"

To the response below thats because not everyone can afford a PS3 so of course the numbers are low at this point of time. Not to mention that X-Box has been out for almost two years, it had better had 5 million owners willing to pay for XBL, when its been out for nearly two years

You are an idiot. Not everyone has broadband, or let alone internet. This is especially true in some areas such as the Middle East. I know many people that still use dial-up. Second, the PSN is not available worldwide. If you actually owned a PS3, you'd know that only major countries can access it as of now as Sony makes a special store for most countries. Many countries in Europe can't access the PSN for example. Finally, your 5 Million Xbox 360 users have had more than 15 months to sign up. The PS3 has only been out for 4 months in the US and 1 month in the UK....

mine too... actually was surprised to see it... what's that thing???

as for PSN... i'm not into online gaming... i bought a PS3 for my personal recreation just like my previous consoles... i've got a broadband so i thought why not and there are bound to be some cool downloads anyway... but it's not a priority to me... if i havent registered yet i'd still enjoy my console and probably register when the PSN here in Australia is all-out kicking already and just at the starting-out stage in which it is in right now.... i'm turned off by online gaming, most of the people there are kids anyway and one way or another they'll find a way to piss you off.

» Give it time --msg from the US

I remember setting up to login to the Japanese store in late January when I read online that there was a way to buy/download Tekken prior to the end-of-Feb USA release date. I wasn't able to accomplish that, but I was surprised with how much content was available on their site vs my country's. However, now in April 2007 the USA site has quite a good mix of content.
