PSM3 clears the air on leaked Fallout 3 PS3 review |

PSM3's looked to clarify some mistaken notions that have arisen when their review for Fallout 3 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC) for the PS3 was leaked onto the Internet. Specifically, the notion that the PS3 version was yet another crappy port of an excellent game, much as F.E.A.R. was when it finally came out on the Sony console.
Textures were indeed a bit more rough in the PS3 version than in the 360 or the PC and the frame rate was a bit choppier. However, PSM3 asserted that this was hardly enough to detract from the overall experience of what is turning out to be a truly epic game.
The bottom line was succinctly put by PSM3's Andy Kelly:
If you're bothered by a slightly inferior frame rate and fractionally blurrier textures, then perhaps, yes, you'd best buy the Xbox version, leaving the rest of us to enjoy an almost-identical, equally brilliant, game on PS3, while you smugly inspect concrete textures at terrifyingly close range to reap the full benefit, rather than, say, losing yourself in a 100 hour epic quest in an evocative post-apocalypse. Or having fun.
Well said, Andy. Well said. I'm still buying the PC version though.

if i was gonna get this game, i'd get it for PC
Fallout is a franchise that was born and remembered fondly on the PC. It pretty much belongs on the PC and thats the platform I'd get it on.
Still, I don't see how anyone can have MORE fun playing an FPS on a console than on a PC yet fps games are still crazily popular on consoles. So whatever floats your boat, if you wanna play fallout on consoles, whatever, you do that.
I love it how people keep comparing this game to a FPS and think it's ok....
You start off sounding like you know what you're talking about... then you say it's an fps.
Anyway, ps3 and 360 will never be able to out do pcs, by their nature they are not upgradable.
But that is also their strong point. A new game will never come out on ps3/360 which it won't be abele to play.
Also, yeah, people moaning about slightly inferior textures really annoys me. Get over it you idiots. How about playing the game, not staring at the ground?
Yeah! Another developer that can't be bothered with making quality games. I like the fact that the magazine lets you know that while the developers couldn't be less interested in delivering the best game they can, it's still pretty fun. I'm not buying this game because I would be telling the developers I don't mind an inferior product. Guess I'll just have to play more LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2.
Besides choppy framerates are not at all hard to see.
What bothers me is that they had a lot of time to make the game, and instead of making both games equal, it looks like they put more time and effort on one platform, and thats not fair :( . Anyways, the game its still looks awesome :) .

geez. i didn't say it was an fps. i know that fallout is an rpg. but like the rts genre, fps genre, they were pretty much popularized on the pc and thats where they belong.
fallout, even tho is an rpg, was born on the pc and thus i feel belongs on the pc. i was comparing fallout to fps games that weren't born on consoles but are just as popular on them.
i could've been more clear, my bad, but no need to go ridiculing me like that. but its the internet, what did i expect?
