PSM France reveals PS3 rumble controller details? |
Ó
According to Gamers Creed, PlayStation Magazine France has reportedly released new details regarding a new PS3 controller in the works. None of this has apparently been confirmed by Sony, but since it does happen to be on a PlayStation related magazine, we're posting the details here for you to think about.Below are the details mentioned in Gamers Creed's report:
Technical details:
- The gyroscopic functions can cohabit with the vibrations. The explanation? The speed to which a player can move the lever is quite lower at the speed of the vibrations.
- The engine of vibration could be inclu in the lever without having to modify the form of it. There is enough place for the new engine, and this one, concus by Immersion, are lighter for an obstruction equivalent.
- One indeed has to expect a reduction in the autonomy of Sixaxis. Nevertheless, the new engine of vibration does not consume more than the old models (Dualshock) in spite of the fact that it is more powerful.
- The new engine is less expensive to build, and a possible rise in price of the pad should be only very light.
- With an update of the firmware, we will be able to have the vibrations for plays PS2
New technology, named "Touchsense" is a mini-revolution. Indeed, from now on, the vibrations will not emanate solely any more from the handles of the pad (as on Dualshock) but will be perceptible in various places of the lever. It as should be specified as they will be more powerful, more intense and over short periods if the programmers wish it. Thus, the developers will be able to create a multitude of still new effects. If Sony chooses this technology, it will thus not act of a simple return of the vibrations, but well of a very new technology.
The report also mentions that the new vibration system will allow for replication of new events, such as the jolting forces of a shot, as well as small shocks normally attributed to riding a car on dirt, for example.
Hopefully, some, if not all of the information they've put in will end up being true. It's nice to hope at least. We'll search for more info on these updates and give them to you as soon as we get them. Till then, sit tight.

looks good, cant wait
That doesn't sound too impossible, Image a vibration that rises in power as you tilt the controller more in an angle. For example you are driving a car and turns by tilting the controller. The more harder the wheel on the car has to hold the road, the more the controller vibrates.
The vibration will probably make the controller heavier no matter what they say, let's just hope they dont make it as heavy as the Dual Shock 2. And I personally hope for a complete redesign on the grip as well, since it's completly the same since the Dualshock one.
Let's also not forget that it's possible that they even want to make the gyro-function even more advanced now when Wii's controller had such a big hit on the market.
And lasty I hope they get out with new info on the new controller on E3. or at least before good 4 player games come out, like LBP(Litte Big Planet). Since I own Two six-axis controllers for the ps3, and I plan to buy two vibration controllers as well.
I wonder what the new name on the controller will be?
Sixasis two? Probably not, that name sucks...
"The speed to which a player can move the lever is quite lower at the speed of the vibrations."
Really don't understand that...
What Lever? If that the controller? Sounds like the wiimote.
Or does this mean we need to move the controller slower for it recognise the motion whilst it's vibrating?
Whatever, I hope it doesn't lose the functionality of SIXAXIS and gains some rarther cool vibration, the "Indeed, from now on, the vibrations will not emanate solely any more from the handles of the pad (as on Dualshock)" part sounds awesome... can't wait, getting my PS3 soon, going to be irritated once I've bought my controllers to find a new one being released
Vibasis?
Sounds great! But I'd only beleive this when i see it. never trust the French.
Well thats good vibration is coming back but I wonder how long will battery life be? And also will this controller stop prodution of the oringinal sixaxis controllers and become standard or is it just an alternative?
sounds cool, hopefully, if lets say you get shot from the left, you only feel it vibrate on the left side of the controller, so not only can you see, hear and now feel where you were shot from. i think that would be really cool.
"Indeed, from now on, the vibrations will not emanate solely any more from the handles of the pad (as on Dualshock) but will be perceptible in various places of the lever."
What lever are they talking about? Do they mean the analog sticks, the tilt angle, or some new internal part of the system?
Maybe they will call it Touchsense Sixaxis. No that sounds too much like touch six asses.
ARE YOU *****ING RETARDED. heavier controller? dualshock2 wasnt heavy at all.
Grip? THE PS CONTROLLER IS PERFECT. WE dont want a boomerang again. the thing is exactly perfect the way it is.
so basically the amount of vibration will be integrated directly with the actions of the gameplay? if this is true, this is something very exciting for ps3 owners. i've always loved the rumble feature, but it turns out you can do without it. after the first few hours you realize that it isnt a big deal. i hope they dont make it too heavy, but make it heavy enough to make it feel "more expensive". i just wonder now how it's going to work with the sixaxis...
well if it was an alternative they would just be wasting money, if they make a new controller expect it to take over the old one and become the new standard
the levers in which they are talking about is probably:new levers in their new engine:
or 2
the sixaxis (the axises are the levers)
The dualshock IS heavier than sixaxis you moron. the only reason it didn't seem like it was because it was bound by a cord.
with lever they mean the controler.
They simply said that therell be vibration output on several palces on the controler. not just the tips of the handles as in PSX and PS2' controlers
That translation was a bit confusing. It could have been edited a bit so it was more understandable. But i think i got the jist of it :)
wat happened to ''rumble is last gen".
it so happened that enough users wanted rumble so sony was force to put it back....
IMO SONY is listing to us ps3 owner. Let's just hope this turn out good for us.
the wire makes the old controll seem heavier you moron
sony is listening to us, just in due time we can call them.... our *****es
no it sounds too much like vibrator
its saying how the tilt controls will still function with the rumblers they put into the controller, becasue the rumblers move alot faster then human arms do when we tilt the controller
well man, they stated that the new controllers wil have BOTH at once
I hope they redesign part of the controller as well. I would like the grip of the controller to be "stickier" you know? Not just smooth plastic. Also, is it just me or do your fingers slide off the L2 and R2 buttons easily? I wish they'd make that button more "concave" rather than "convex". Kind of like a real gun trigger or like the LT and RT of the 360's controller.
I mean, while you're overhauling the controller, might as well make a few changes, right?
But I like weight in my controller... This one feels like a piece of paper. And dualshock had a wire, which if u connect the USB wire to the Sixaxsis Controller it feels like it has more weight.
Who cares about rumble? its useless garbage.
ur rite sounds like a good idea
I agree completely. I hate the L2 and R2 triggers because my fingers slip off them easliy or holding them all the way down is uncomfortable. I think changing the grip on the controller would help alot, but keep the design of the controller the same.
If you can't beat 'em, license their technology.
Iwould say SixSense
sonys not getting any rumble because of the lawsuit and m$ isnt going to let it happen!!
Sixaxis 2, Sixshoxis or Shoxis!
if they do, you can credit me for the idea!
You know whats funny about this Microsoft is probably going to get in trouble for suing sony and immersion for there impatience.
Remember they sued them for breaking there contract. But it didnt say anything about a new tecnology called Touchsense.
I say the new name of the controller is Six-Axis Touchsense.
i like pie
Who cares about your opinion, Its garbage LOL
Next question
Hey xbox fanboy how about you leave, cause if you knew your stuff you would clearly see that the lawsuit never mention a new technology called Touchsense, it said only rumble. SO basically its not even the same. Which in other words means Sony or immersion wont get used. But MS could if they feel it was an unjust lawsuit. Which from this it is.
Well, buy your PS3 with 2 controllers....then wait for the new sixaxis and buy 2 of them...you wont use 4 controllers a lot(daily)...but at least you could use all of them when playing with your friends
I love me some pie
Shoxis.......damn im smart.....
