Another emulator has hit the PS3 today as an anonymous developer releases an early built of PS3SX, a PSX emulator for the PlayStation 3 based on the PlayStation emulator, PCSX.
The pre-release version of the emulator is a hybrid between the leaked PS3 SDK and the open sourced PSL1GHT. A source code for the program is not available at the moment, but the dev promises to release it once the emulator is completely ported using the PSL1GHT SDK. The emulator will work on all retail 3.41 units but is untested on older firmwares.
The pre-release version of PCSX features:
- 2 Players
- All iso formats
- PSX homebrew *.psx and *.exe
- Save works for player 1 & 2
- Sound support CDDA and XA
- Full screen
- Full Speed

Because this one supports an armada of features that Sony's doesn't. That's why.

PS3 already can play ALL PS1 games.
God how dumb is this.
If it was a PS2 emulator, fine. But a PS1 emulator when it's already built into the console is completely fucking stupid.

A PSX emulator allows you to play ANY game.
Not just 80% (Note that FFVIII will not run on legit PS3's).
This allow allows you to run backed up games. Which is also a GOOD thing.
Not to mention the homebrew that can be run from inside this emulator as well.
You people who lurk waiting for the next big release should be a little more greatful. You contribute NOTHING to the scene.
