PS3's The Orange Box to get new patch this March |
Ó
At the start of the year, we reported to you that Valve put up a page dedicated to hearing out complaints from fans pointing at issues observed in the Sony PlayStation 3 version of The Orange Box. It seems that the campaign has paid off and a patch to address troubles in the collection of games has been created. The patch team didn't point to any specific issues that the update shoots down, but says there's a myriad of them. An exact release date was also kept under wraps. The only assurance given was that it would come within March after it's been tested.
The PS3 version of The Orange Box was developed by EA London in partnership with Valve. It features a trifecta of great titles (Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal) and is universally recognized as one of 2007's top releases.

at least this will finally bring it to par. The problems should have been addressed before release. If everyone that owns a PS3 has no problem waiting for MGS, GTA and FFXIII I don't see why we would have cared so much if they delayed the release of this game until it was ready.
This is good news for me, considering I finally went out and bought it last night.
I'M A BLACK SCOTTISH CYCLOPS!!!!!
frankly, i think the pc 1s look better
aftrr comparing it with 2004's hl 2
The PC version is far superior to the 360/PS3 versions (of which I've played all). The textures in the console versions are a joke compared to those in the PC version! Even running at a medium (or under that) setting on the PC has sharper textures and smoother polygons.
In the case of the PS3 version, I found nearly no problem with gameplay on the Original Half-life2 part or even portal, but Eps1 and 2 have some serious framerate issues which make the game slow down like crazy.
You kiddin me? HL2 looks heaps better on 360/PS3 than it does on PC. As for the other games, I played them on both platforms and noticed no difference at all. Way to go ride the PC's *****.
I have the Orange Box for PS3, and the only problems are random long load times for HL2, huge slowdown for the first HL2 game (it only happened on 2 separate occasions but it was there) and the network issues with TF2.
None of them can really kill the gameplay to the point of no return, but all of them are pretty rare for me besides the loading times. I know that HL2 doesnt load THAT much crap at once, and the PS3 should be able to load it up like nothing. Patch ftw.
QJ also forgot to mention that it comes with HL2 and HL2 episode one as well... Just saying.
Gabe Newall is an A** anyways.
over-used outdated graphics. thats y he desperately lured that students portal idea into valve for marketing purposes since they knew already the game wil almost feel repetitive
worse than bungie.
im no longer a HL fan anymore.
