PS3's Firmware 1.50 reported to cause problems with Blu-Ray |

Ó
A number of PS3 owners have been reporting that they have noticed that their Blu-Ray movies have started freezing up, right after they upgraded their PS3's firmware to 1.5.The latest firmware update was supposed to resolve an issue regarding the upscaling of PS2 titles that are played on the PS3 via backwards-compatibility. It was also supposed to provide additional online functionality, though many suspect that it may be this same feature which is indirectly causing the problems in the system.
Among the hiccups that PS3s have been displaying after the firmware update, the most noticeable and most-reported would be Blu-Ray discs freezing up during playback (and many have been able to rule out the possibility of a defective disc in this case), difficulty with using the wireless controller for navigating the BD, and issues with wireless connection to the internet. Many have also noted that only those who have direct internet connections were spared from the bugs that were brought on by the latest firmware update.
PS3 owners who contacted Sony's technical support center were apparently advised to seek help in the PS3 forums instead. If any of our readers are experiencing similar problems, let us know in the comments!

The only issue I've ever had was one bluetooth drop back during launch week before the first update and one hang up after it had be on for 12+hours and I was doing something in game.
All in all:
I'M VERY IMPRESSED WITH PS3 SO FAR.
and
PEOPLE NEED TO STOP EXPECTING SO MUCH AND NITPICKING SO MUCH.

I FOUND A WORK-AROUND:
If you go through the wireless connection settings individually (manually) you will eventually get to an option to either enable or disable Universal Plug n Play or "UPnP". DISABLE IT if your router is not compatible. Test the connection again to make sure it worked.

I guess the plus side is more features and improved features. But it's not good when updates take a bad turn and do more harm then good. I haven't had any problems with my 360, but because it's modded i always wait at least a week and stick close to the forums to see if there is any problems. I recommend you all do the same.

"notice how only 360 fanboys really go outta their way to start flame wars when PS3 fanboys just sit back on the PS3 section enjoying it all then some d*ckless f*ck like mr common sense comes along and gives stupid reasons for why his precious 360 is better. But in reality PS3 is better and cheaper no one really cares because addons which you need to do anything dont count as the cost of the console. THAT is type of reasoning people like you use. THAT is why you should get the h*ll out of here and never come back but i bet you will because you LOVE to claim you're right. Its like america saying OH THERES NO GLOBAL WARMING. If you honestly think theres no global warming you should go join bush in his realm of fantasy."
As I recall, shortly after problems with the 360's fall update surfaced it was revealed the people with problems used a certain version of hacked DVD firmware to allow piracy. ILLEGAL MODIFICATIONS DESIGNED TO STEAL. Did that stop the desperate pathetic fanboys looking for ammo to feed their lies about the better console? Of course not, even after it was confirmed. Even after MS offered to fix all consoles free, despite illegal hacking, I still see that come up. That is what's pathetic, because it seems to be the best you can come up with.
This is really sad sony doesn't even test their firmware on the one version of PS3 hardware with nobody modifying it, still has problems! Then the PS3 fans act like it's nothing. It seems like it's easier for $ony to program peoples' brains rather than their PS3.
I'm really happy I'm pissing you off so bad matt, and I will keep it up until your kind realizes the truth. You might think you're offending me with your childish name calling, but that is quite possibly what I enjoy the most. I can just picture matt shaking his fist at his computer saying "that SOB is making fun of my PS3! I'll show him!" Really all I did is restate what the article said on a PS3 site and you get so mad. Truly pathetic.
Every day it becomes more of a reality, the PS3 is and will always be a failure! Acceptance is healthier than denial. In psychology, it's called a psychosis. Accepting a different reality than what exists in the real world. There's doctors that can prescribe medication for that you know.

Really how stupid is a comment like that?

I guess you must to make the PS3 seem better.

For the record, my 360 never had a single problem with anything.

It's sad how little of a life you have to just sit around and bash products in the consumer controller world we live in.
How about doing something useful for people

MS doesn't make empty promises. They make it happen so they know it's possible, then make an announcment. Sony makes outragous claims, struggles to make it happen, then it fails or is not possible, then they sweep the lies under the rug so hopefully nobody notices. If I notice these lies why don't you guys?
All I'm trying to do is keep sony in check, because most people don't care or remember their lies!
I still enjoy it when people get all pissed off though. It's like half these kids are still in grade school.

Just yesterday, I had decided to try out a PS2-to-USB adapter and the Intec PS2 infrared remote control (I'd like to program my Universal remote for PS3). I had this in the USB port while on v1.50, and then upgraded to v1.51. I had also bought Wicker Man on BluRay yesterday. When watching, I got annoying total-lockups randomly every 10-15mins throughout playback --requiring me to skip back/forward to unlock.
I also noticed sporadic 1-second deadlocks on the BluRay controller in Ridge Racer, causing me to slam into walls.
I removed the USB, and Ridge Racer was fine. This morning, I'm running Wicker Man again and have so far been about 25mins into it with no sign of lockup.
...So, check what other stuff you've got plugged into your PS3. That may be the real issue. I'll try to post later and let you know if it cleared the whole movie.

But as far as firmware downloading is concerned, can the PS3 take CD-Rs?
