PS3, Xbox 360 get different exclusives for Resident Evil 5

The gap between Xbox 360 and PS3 continues to widen, and even these console-exclusive offers from Resident Evil 5 (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) are giving more reasons for gamers to debate which console is the better way to go.

If you get the one for the PS3, you'll receive a Hollywood-made video on the making of RE5. Pretty sweet, and it sounds like a lot of effort went in it, plus it gives you more behind-the-scenes info on the game. Problem is, it's very likely to show up on YouTube, if some of the contents are not already there.

The Xbox 360 RE5 pack will come in a cool metal case, including a soundtrack CD, entitled, "Biohazard 5 Selection Track," based from the Japanese translations from Capcom's site. It's pretty cool - the metal case sounds neat, but it's a limited offer so you can't guarantee that you can get one.

Note that the PS3-exclusive content will be available right on the game disc itself - meaning it's a permanent fixture whether you get the Limited Edition or just the game itself. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 exclusive content will be available as part of the Xbox 360 version of the Limited Edition - and not part of the game disc SKU.

ok, so I'm glad I don't only have a PS3. Can you say -Shaft-! Reminds me of Soul Calibur 2 exclusives of Spawn on Xbox and Link on Game Cube. Heihatchi on PS2!?!?! What!?!?!

Absolutely agree with you. This is the perfect sneak strategy Microsoft is employing and it's working out really well for them. 90% of the consumers look at the price tag and not the features. They compare PS3 vs. Xbox as two things that play games and features don't even matter.

It's really sad because these people who were suckered in by the $199 price tag are actually going to end up paying more than $399 when they later buy the Xbox Hard Drive, Xbox Live, headset, ethernet and HDMI cables and still won't have a bluray player.

wtf qj I posted this response to "black friday sales" post. How did it show up here?

Anyway there's no dispute that video > audio so I'd go with the ps3 on this one. But it wouldn't matter in the long run since both things will end up on the web eventually.

A waist pouch.... we in the 90's again? Just another item no one is going to use. Metal case sounds nice. The USB stick looks nice though, but I'll never use it. Sure, the "Making of" dvd will most likely hit YouTube, but that doesn't mean the Soundtrack CD won't be hitting the net either.

I'll be picking up the PS3 version, only cuz I want to play online whenever I want and not have to pay for it. I don't care about bonus discs (movies, soundtrack) cuz I've never even taken those out of the case.

Are these standard editions or special/collectors editions?

does the ps3 version have anything other than the bonus video? they way it was written it doesn't sound like it...

i don't care for the video or audio, as both of those can and will be available on the net in a matter of days of rls..

the other items however... it's always cool when you can have a physical version of a virtual item. i would be shocked if the ps3 doesn't get these...

i wouldn't buy it for ps3 anyway, but it sucks for anyone who only has a ps3 and is a big RE fan...

seeing as how the franchise has had a home on playstation for years... that just doesn't seem right...

In reality, it's better to have the HD video on disc, rather than the audio...the audio can be ripped flawlessly and is very small...HD video is alot bigger...

After that fact, well so what if my case looks cool....the super ultimate collectors edition seems alright, with the artbook....but those will be super limited and I am not a big enough fan to pay for that....prolly wait for the reg edition to go down in price b4 I buy it....

im glad i got x360, ps3 and wii

most games ive liked to date are multiplatform but same on both x360 and ps3

exept gta4 (a x360 sitting in a car)

hopefully this will be worth a dual version buy

even though i'll buy both if there not since i hardly play the games i buy

over time i think i become more a collector than a player

playing fallout 3 now..first game ive taken seriously since doom3 (I LOVE DOOM)

# It's the game that countsHippy Pickle 2008-12-02 05:03
To be honest these 'extras' don't sway me to buy for any particular console. I own both the 360 and the PS3 and for most multi-format titles I'd be inclined to buy the PS3 version as I prefer the pad. It's the actual game that matters, only if one version was flawed (fallout3) would I get it for the 360. Even though GTA4 gets 'exclusive' content on the 360, I still got the PS3 version, because in my opinion it was the better version (my opinion, I'm not trying to start a which is better war!).

In the end the both formats will get the content anyways as most exclusives are only timed ones (i.e. rock band etc)

# i dont think u read it properlylee123 2008-12-02 06:35
the ps3 exclusive content is on every disk including the normal version of the game, to get the 360 exclusive stuff you have to buy the limited edition, and i can tell you the limited edition will be very over priced, and only the hardcore resi fans will probs get

# Yea, it's supposed to be all about the game...Viphid 2008-12-02 14:50
But this is the first time a Res Evil title has been on the box and they are celebrating it with style. I'll be getting the 360 Ltd Ed and happy to do so. Sorry, I don't even bother with Sony's online. You always get what you pay for and for free... yea, I don't mind paying $50 a year. I'm not that poor.
