Taiwanese game developers and operators predict that despite the disappointment caused by Sony's recent launch in Europe and Australia, the game console will overtake the Xbox 360 in terms of total sales worldwide by mid-2008 to early 2009.Though the PS3 is the most technologically advanced game machine currently existing in the market, its high-end features are accompanied by high prices. A fully loaded and taxed PS3 bundle may very well fetch prices of $900. It also has significantly fewer games in its fold compared to the Xbox 360. It only has 11 exclusives to date and indications are pointing that some other platform stalwarts will be available in other consoles in the future.
It also lacks the creativity of games from the Nintendo Wii, which has endeared the Nintendo machine to a broader audience. The war, however, is far from over as the Sony online community PlayStation Home is yet to be launched and heavyweight franchise games are still in the works. The Taiwanese say that once games from eminent franchises such as Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, God of War, Gran Turismo and Ratchet and Clank are released, it will be a very different ballgame.
You have to hand it to the Taiwanese game people for this fearless forecast. We wish the PS3 the best. With great games around, everyone wins.

also.. xbox 360 only had 2..3..maybe 4 crap games on release... the ps3 has 20 more.. and theyre still moaning that theres not enough games... the ps3 rule.. and everyone knows it.. wii is only good for 5 minutes and 5 year olds

I have owend previous Sony systems, but the PS3 is iust too expensive for me (damn college), with no AAA titles yet.
I guess it could catch up by 2009, but they are going to have realliy tough competition this fall with MS releasing a steady wave of great games ( Forza 2, Mass Effect, Halo 3). Plus, before Halo 3 comes out, Im pretty sure the price of the 360 will drop to "mass market" levels.
I root for the PS3 deep down. But the writing on the wall doesn't look good right now.

Sony breaks sales record with 165,000 units sold the first weekend!
What about next week? 30,000 in sales?
XBOX 360 and Wii both sold out, their supplies were limited, however. This means absolutely nothing, unless you're retarded. Go PS3!

I just hope there are some serious advances in 3D rendering technology this time.
The difference between xbox and 360 was not so much that it could do many new functions, just more of them and more precisely....
Sony users were more rewarded as PS2 was such a piece of crap (with no pixel shaders and such) that PS3 looks amazing to them...
I really hope there is a leap next-next-gen

wii- personal faveorite. the only console that brings something new to the table. good controller. winning developer support. gets boring quick. good 4 parteeys.

Xbox 360: 10,857,540 consoles sold, yes i realize they launched in late 05 (in the US).

now about your future rumor, well not only Taiwan but everybody not biased also thinks that the ps3 will do like the predecessors does and excell in the prolong, like they said it the ps3 may have capped its one foot it will still get up and run the race. and maybe it can still win. whatever is the contest you are thinking of.

first, the next xbox will come out a year later be the time Sony catches up so it won't matter.
second, sony systems are going to be technically advanced as is the PS3 as of now out of all the systems, so Sony will need more time on everything including larger games with blu-ray.
third, who cares about sales, I own the PS3 and not a Wii or Xbox 360, even though I have played X360 and Wii at stores and my cousins house I didn't enjoy them as much.
I enjoy PS3 for one reason only, and that is, it has limitless possibilities with storing music,photos,mo vies,games,oper ating systems, emulators, super web browsing, usb options, built-in wifi, heck I can go on all day but you still wouldn't get it. Games are the least of the PS3's full potential.

in everything but price, we know sony is more money, but microsoft makes better products, and XBOX LIVE and games are the reason, who wants to play live on sonys machines, microsoft has owned them in the that. In games, all the popoular games out today are on 360 and not ps3. You can go and take to your friends and random people about gears of war, halo, tom clancy, project gotham...etc. I have yet to cross a person that talks about ps3 games, and thats because they suck. Has anyone heard people talk about ps3 games nooooo, 360 games are the best and it shows by how popular they are online and off.
