Yes folks, you heard it right. Dolphin-PS3, a port of the Nintendo Gamecube and Wii system emulator is heading to the PS3 real soon.According to a forum post in logic-sunrise.com, homebrew dev shinhalsafar and his team is on the proces of porting the Dolphin emu to Sony's console. Here's a rough translation of the post:

"shinhalsafar the original developer of porting fceu (NES emulator) and VBA (Game Boy emulator, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance) continues its momentum in the Ports of Nintendo emulators for our greatest pleasure. In fact he has just created a google code page on his new project, porting dolphin emulator on PS3 and Wii GameCube."

The page is already up and hopefully we can have the first release soon.

Motion tracking isn't really possible with Sixaxis; it works using a complicated array of weights, which is amazingly accurate at detecting changes in direction and speed, but not so much with locations.

I'll find it really funny if this emulator runs at fullspeed, given that the current GBA emulator only just about manages it.

Mario Kart Double Dash wasn't that good, but graphically it was excellent.

I'll be waiting for it and then think about it to play Mario Kart Wii.

Cause PS3 is in FullHD, and Wii is STILL using SD quality. Thus this will improve a lot.

Wii should've been released as PS2's competitor.

Huh? What are you on? Since when was the PS3 able to upscale emulators? All I see is just full screen blow up for it. Unless the game itself supports a native HD resolution, you can never get it upscaled... hence why a lot of PS2 games still look the same on the PS3.

" Apparently you don't understand 3D vs 2D graphics very well... to learn play any 3D game on you PC @ 640x480 resolution(~= to 480P or Wii Resolution)... Then try the same game @ 1280x1024 (~= to 1080P with Widescreen perspective) Notice the difference? This is the difference between SD and HD nothing more. Look at a high resolution Dolphin screen shot of a Wii Game. On top of that emulators can add thing like AA, AF, Texture scaling, etc.. Tell me your Wii normally looks this good...

If you have have a Ps3, you probably already own a Wii, unless you are a Sony fanboy.. and then there is almost no meaning on playing NGC or WII games...

Nice. Since PS3 also has blue tooth, this will allow us to use real Wiimotes on a PS3, since Dolphin has this support built-in.

Xbox 360 won't be possible, it's not as easy as it looks.

Xbox 1 emulator for PC doesn't even exist, well it plays a game or so but that's about it.

IK emulators are mostly CPU, but did they ever get full (or at least better) access to the CPU an GPU of the PS3? I thought they were partially blocked off somehow.

The emulation scene of the PS3 is getting more and more exciting.

At this point, all we need now is the various Playstation(1, 2, perhaps PSP?) and the Nintendo 64 emulators and it'll be golden!

I have many favorites on the Gamecube, and a few on the Wii. I can't wait to try it out.
