Just Cause 2 - Image 1Just Cause 2 developer, Avalanche, made a special announcement at their London event earlier today, and it's special indeed for PS3 gamers. New features have been announced, and it looks like the PS3 scores one over the Xbox 360.

Here are the newly-announced features:
  • Video capture feature
  • can auto-record/ record last 30 seconds of gameplay
  • manual record up to 10 minutes
  • can transfer directly to YouTube

How are you liking them? That's it for now, if we pick up on anything else, we'll be sure to let you know.

» right...

» well at least things are changing

This developer isn't allowing the limitations of the 360 to hamper PS3 development.

Its a nice change that I hope is viral amongst game developers.

» The first game was "decent."

The amount of area you could travel in the game was pretty large. If they keep that amount in Just Cause 2 and then make it more detailed, it'll be much better than the first title.

Besides. The article was showing off extra features. It's not an article about "Is Gogeta85 going to care about Just Cause 2." Because truthfully, no one cares about what you think. No one cares about what I think either if that makes you feel better.

Just 'Cause (no pun intended) the first game sucked, doesn't mean the second game has to, too.

Killzone 1 was bad, KZ2 on the other hand, was great.

» AWSOME!!

I'm gonna have to brush the dust off my PS3 that's been sitting since launch and get this game that little extra record feature sounds so cool I think I wet myself.

» ehh

That's not really the "get more" i was looking for recording is fine... but nothing I would see as something uber exclusive to make it stand out.

While we shouldn't discourage this; on the other hand, there's a whole lot more that could be done with 25gb of disc space than just an online video-upload feature. Maybe that feature is due to Cell's multiple cores, or PS3's open-network backend. But, I'd like to see (minimally) developers across-the-board putting 5.1 or 7.1 PCM audio in their games (like Uncharted 1/2 have; the first Resistance; Heavenly Sword; others). Even Sony's been a bit lax on that front, often just doing Dolby Digital. For those of us with loss-less audio HDMI receivers, the difference it astounding. ....Then, more to your point, I think they could put extra levels, or maybe even extra textures (outfits), etc. --Really fill-up the disc. ....But maybe patience is a virtue. I think in soon enough time, PS3 will overtake 360, and many will start adding bonuses to their PS3 versions (knowing that 'converts' might have incentive then to re-purchase favorite games on PS3).

I think the second one will suck just as bad as the first. The game didn't suck due to technical limitations the game sucked because the gameplay sucked, it was a boring an unimaginitive game.

KZ1 on the other hand was hampered by the PS2's less than spectacular hardware. PS3 on the other hand has *****in' hardware and the developers were not hampered by this.

There was a rumor that the 360 was getting video capture feature across all 360 titles. This could possibly explain why it's only being developed for the PS3.
