PS3 USBAdvance for Japanese models: run PS2 ISOs |

Hacker ifcaro has developed his own version of PS3 USBAdvance, which
will allow you to run *backup* PS2 ISOs on the PS3. Hold your horses
though, this release only works for Japanese PS3 models.A PAL version of the program is expected to be released soon, according to PS3Hax. It is reported to work on the latest PS3 firmware, but it requires Swap Magic to load the ELF file in the download archive.
I haven't seen any solid reports of this working properly yet though. Hopefully it's the real deal, but I wouldn't get my hopes up so quickly. We'll update you when we know more.

LOL, PS3Hax, they are just as reliable as PS3news, in other words, never.....
someone correct me if im wrong, but isnt swap magic a ps2 disk which need ps2 backcompat to be able to run on the ps3 which kinda defeats the objective here,
it is good for 60gb owners as now they can play there copied games, but still no solutions for 40 and 80gb owners

There is no need for swapping when loading an ELF file through the swapmagic disc.
The latest versions of Swapmagic have the ability to run elf files from an USB stick on booting the disc...
Silver-Tiger why you say that it's not reliable. I agree PS3News is not, but when has ps3hax made up some story or fake exploits.
No... only for Jap PS3s. Why would they create a PS2 emulator for PS3s that already have BC? C'mon dude, think!
Let me clear some things up:
1. THIS IS NOT AN EMULATOR. There is absolutely no way that you can fit an emulator in under one megabyte. If you do this I will give you the deed to my house and my car and whatever the hell else you'd like. Please correct this in the article.
2. It just runs ISOs for the backwards compatible PS3s only that are NTSC/J.

Two... I don't see what you argument is about when I only touched on the subject that the program wasn't for BC PS3s and that it was for JAP PS3s.

Yeah that's because the processing power of those consoles is very easy to emulate, a PS2 emulator is well over 20 megs. Think before you talk.
Now that I think of it the PS2 ROM/BIOS image is larger than this (USBAdvance)...
how does that defeat the purpose? if u dont have a B/C ps3 then u will NEVER be able to play ps2 games even if they made a mod chip so get over it........ this news is great hope it will come to the states!!!!
none of those emulators come close to the power of the ps2 cmon... if there was an emulator under 1mb dont u think that sony would of thrown it in all ps3 cmon man lets not do this..lol
my fault man.. i was so pissed last night cuz i did bad in a few search + destroy matches... i was also thinking that when u said "no.. only for jap ps3s".. it sounded like sarcasm to me... i wasnt thinking clearly...lol... but my point was that if the so called emulator is only under 1mb, then it might be only for BC ps3's cuz an emulator cant just be 1mb... and the reason they would release a ps2 emu for BC ps3s is to play backups... that was my point... so i dont really mind getting that since i do have a 60gb ps3..
what i'd like to know is why it only woks on jp ps3s...
why isnt there something like this to run on a us ps3?
Does this only run games from the USB or can it run from a dvd backup?
