Some 8 months after its launch, the PlayStation 3 (PS3) has finally reached 1 million units sold in Japan. However, this news is tempered by the fact that it still trails behind the Nintendo Wii's substantial lead, selling more than double the number of PS3s. Ever since it came out in November of last year, PS3 sales have been chronically slow due to its high price tag and a seeming lack of good titles. According to the research of game magazine Enterbrain, the Nintendo Wii's popularity has just been astounding: 2.9 million units sold last July 8 while Sony logs in at 1.01 million PS3s sold as of July 15.
But, the PS3 doesn't find itself at the bottom of the console race in Japan. Microsoft's Xbox 360 comes in last, only selling 420,705 consoles in the country to date. While Sony has been off to a slow start in its home court, we can only hope that with a bit of a bit of repricing and new video games like Final FantasyXIII , Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Mercenaries 2, and other strong titles, this number would climb in the near future.

The PS3 has almost no worthwhile exclusives left, and they pale in comparison to the 360's.
The simple truth is nobody wants PS3s, and just when you think sony gets the message and cuts the price, it's only an inventory clearance sale so they can rip you off on a new model that's cheaper for them to make.
PS, can a 2 year old even type? Shows how much sense a PS3 fantard makes.

there are lots of people that wants the ps3, i think even you wants a ps3. i myself bought one on launch date of ps3 here in japan, a week before the US launch.
ps3 also has limited supplies on launch, its is recorded on wikipedia, if they had enough ps3 during those times the ps3 sales could have sold much much more ps3 units. and sony didnt cut off the supply, what company in a proper state of mind will withhold its own product on launch?
ps3 has many exclusive games, each and every sony published game is exclusive to ps3, and some third party titles too. try watching the sony E3'07 press conference on gamespot.

but the 80gb HDD prices became the same as the 60gb HDD's, now Sony wants its NEW consumers to have the advantage by putting 80gb HDD on $599 PS3, and in order for the stock of the 60gb models to be off the shelves they have to suffer the extra $100 loss on each unit.
havent you heard, microsoft is ready to reimburse and or repair your broken 360 with red lights, causing them to lose 1.5billion in the process meaning each and every xbox 360 is DEFECTIVE and will die eventually. i will not buy a console that is ready to die anytime it wants to.
