BioShock PS3 - Image 1BioShock  for the PlayStation 3 seems to be going along nicely, if this press release from 2K Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive, is any indication. They have just announced that they have teamed up with Digital Extremes for the development of the FPS title.

If the devs sound familiar, then that's because Digital Extremes is also the same company responsible for the third-person action shooter, Dark Sector (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360). They carry 15 years of developing experience under their belt and also shows the title of co-founder with Epic Games for the Unreal franchise. Now that's street cred for you folks, right there.

James Schmalz, CEO and founder of Digital Extremes, had this to say about this partnership:

When 2K approached us to assist with development on BioShock for the PlayStation 3 system, it was a no-brainer. You really can't ask for a more exciting, technically impressive world to work in than Rapture, and the incredible knowledge and talent between the 2K studios and our team at Digital Extremes is unprecedented. The collaboration on this project will make the PlayStation 3 system sing with Big Daddy goodness and Little Sister 'thank you's'.

Meanwhile, it does look like admiration is mutual for these two  companies as  2K President, Christoph Hartmann believes that "bringing Digital Extremes on board allows us to continue to deliver the best experience possible to our fans."

We'll be looking forward to the fruits of this partnership, then.BioShock for the PS3 comes out October 2008, and is not yet rated by the ESRB. We'll be sure to keep you updated on more information as they come, so keep it posted here at QJ.NET.

I read that in a bad way. Because, you know...Dark Sector sucked.
