PS3 to cost EUR 599 in Europe, EUR 699 for Ireland |

Earlier today we told you guys about the official Euro price tags for the PS3, where we said that instead of the € 599 price originally announced, the console will sell for € 629.99.Eyebrows were raised over this sudden change of pricing, and before more of our European fellas start ranting about these sudden changes, allow us to clarify this bit of confusion.
GamesIndustry reports that according to a SCE spokesperson, it is true that the 60GB PS3 will sell for a higher price (€ 629.99), that will only apply to Ireland. For the rest of Europe, the price is still set at € 599.
The SCE spokesperson explained, "Ireland is traditionally more expensive than other territories. The VAT rate there is 21 per cent, whereas it can be as low as 16 per cent in other EU countries."
The spokesperson further added that the information posted on the Irish site is correct, BUT "This doesn't change the previously announced figures of EUR 499 and EUR 599 for the rest of Europe." Well, there you have it. And now that the pricing has been settled and confirmed, hopefully Sony can also confirm exactly when the console will hit Europe to put a stop to all the rumors and speculations going around.

Ah f*** this country....
If you're Irish and you want a PS3.
You could take a break and some vacation in europe, to still get the normal €600 price
I would of said they accepted the Euro as their currency so its their problem BUT I also thought the Euro was supposed to be an equal thing and that dont sound very equal, mind you anything to do with this so called European Union is just a mess up anyway.

Thats all well and good but when the hell are we gonna get a confirmation on the UK price. I mean everyone is pretty sure that it's going to be £425 (about $850) but some clarifacation would be appreciated you know.

And when that is converted into british pounds sterling, at the current rate, it is: £394.74
It is 629 no 699 in Ireland!
I believe the Euro prices include the VAT tax, unlike MSRP prices here in the states.

oh god, i live in Sweden and our VAT is at 25%, does that mean its gonna be even more expensive over. although... we don't really use euro here.

Mother muc*ers, how can they do that. I think i have lost all faith in PS3, First off it costs a bomb and now more, then they wanted to charge for the ps1 games played on psp (thanks to Dark_AleX we dont have to). And they want to screw us over for the 20gb hard drive PS3. Fu*k that

haha im only 15 nd i have the whole thing paid of all i have 2 do is wait till march nd i av 1.nd i dont see y every1 is being a big ***** over 30 euro its not dat much if u luk at it nd if ny 1 says dat im rich ur wrong i spend all my birthday nd xmas mmoney on it so if i can do it im sure adults dat have a job can easily afford it!!!
