PS3 theft: 180 units stolen in Japanese warehouse |
Ó
Seems like the PS3 still remains as one of the most coveted items in Japan, as a small-scale warehouse theft occurred just yesterday at Nakashi.According to a Mainichi Daily News report, a total of 180 PS3 units were stolen from a Japanese transport company's warehouse located at Nakashi -- a loss that amounted to ¥ 9.5 million (that's US$ 82,600!).
An employee from the Meitetsu Golden Kouku Ibaraki Jigyousho company said that at around 1:30 p.m., he noticed a total of around ninety boxes in the warehouse were missing. Unfortunately, each box contained two PS3 units, making it easier for the robbers to swipe as much PS3's as they could.
The local Japanese police were then informed of the incident and started their investigation.
The police concluded that based on the shipping records, the crime occurred sometime between 9 a.m. and 1: 30 p.m. Japanese authorities are still working on the case and continuing their investigation. Now, whether this is an inside job or a fake robbery like the one in Gamestop Elk Grove, we'll leave it up to the Japanese police to find out.
