PS3 start-up screen vid (a faster boot?)

Ó

We all know already the the PS3 interface borrows from the PSP. And we've seen countless demos already of the Crossbar Menu in action. But how does the console start up? Here's a vid made by those nice PSM folks that we found on YouTube.

It seems like a faster boot than the PS2 (some complain though that it's still too slow, people always complain about anything). And compared to the PSP, the change from interface to preview is a bit faster. Now is it just me or does the boot-up music sound a bit weird? Anyway it grows on you. It's sort of nifty after a few loops.

This video makes November feel oh so far away, don't it?

» intro music

the intro music is supposed to make the sound of an orchestra warming up. which I think is pretty cool

» Intro Song

The intro song is actually track #1, Prelude, from the album Hold Your Colour, by Pendulum. Good stuff.

» oh come on now sony!!

» Sweet!

Awesome lookin' interface, and the sound of an orchestra warming up is pretty classy. I loved the XMB on the PSP, and now it looks even better on the PS3.

Haters keep saying "The interface isn't worth $800!", which is hilarious since the PS3 sells at $500. You're not paying for the interface, you're paying for the system power and functionality, along with games, movie, and online services. It's like the 360 guys will only like the PS3 interface if Peter Moore comes down from heaven dressed like Jesus each time you turn the system on.

» Orchestra? No.

Oh, and it's not an orchestra at the start of the game. It's Pendulum, which is Drum and Bass. It's not a generic intro song for every game, it's just a tune the developers of Motorstorm must have chosen for the tune to play within the PS3's menu.

» Interface explaination

Ok lots of people complain that the interface is rubbihs because they have seen it all before. But thats sony's reason for using it! because everybody has seen it and knows how to work it, then the ps3 will be really easy to control, and change settings, without the hassle of phoning a helpline!

» Setan.

read what people are saying more carefully. they are talking about the sound the PS3 makes when it boots, not when they choose motorstorm.

if u recall, the psp makes a lil sound, and the PS3 has the sound that orchestras make when they tune their instruments before a show. which to me, is simply awesome.

No.

But it makes March feel oh so far away.

Now wait.

March IS oh so far away. That's it!

So, nice boot. But I like the PSP's boot sound more... on the other hand the PS3's waves are looking better.

But then again PS3's font is just... well... spiderman (and yes I know that it already exists before spiderman - but, hey, it always reminds me on these movies).

So what's left to say:

Still waiting for 1st infos about PS3-WipEout ;)

Im glad you pay for interfaces... dumbass

The Interface is still there because it maintains the most important part of an interface. Functionality... Dip*****.

Can you program a better interface?

by cube - 2006-10-07 19:44
» ?

who cares? the interface looks fine.

Surely almost all your time will be spent playing the games anyway?!

I think it is very classy.

The load time looked close to nil.

Little music intro was very swish.

Can't wait til March... :(... or until I can afford to consider import as my last resort...

» HOW DISSAPOINTING !!

Now this is super disappoiting ! i HATED the psp , now now they have gone and taken a part of it and put into ps3 ? According to me the MAIN console and BORING PSP should never crossed paths ..YUCK YUCK YUCK.

Not exactly mind-blowing but it's simple, yet effective. I think that eventually Sony'll start relaesing personalised interfaces as soon as the network is up. You'd be able to customise it etc etc... That would be ace!
