Best Buy now selling PS3 Slim - Image 1While the whole world eagerly awaits the September launch of the PS3 Slim, Best Buy must've gone, "Why wait? Get it here now." Readers out in Florida, better check your local retail shops right now, this one's for real. The PS3 Slim is now up for sale.

Gizmodo Intern Rosa actually went to the Best Buy at Port Richley and managed to get one. Gizmodo was also tipped off by a GameStop employee who noted that they have authorization from the higher ups to start selling the PS3 Slim today.

I work at one of the Best Buy's in Tampa. We got a notice in our system yesterday that we were getting the PS3's today and that there was no street date on them. No snafu here. Don't know about other districts but we were told.by corporate we can sell them today.

So folks in Florida will have a good night's sleep today, while store staff will have to brace themselves for customers tomorrow. Won't hurt to check our local retailers, they might be doing the same.

Thanks to our reader, Kerry Stover, for the tip-off!

you can go to your local gamestop anywhere across America and pick up a slim at this very moment.. well i guess not at this moment because they are closed for the night.. but you get my point

» nice

That's MY name! But yea, i work at a best buy in North Carolina and we're selling them now, so it is a company-wide kind of thing. Maybe Best Buy will pull the same stunt with the pspgo.... Oh, and if you purchased a "fat" ps3 within the last 30 days, you can go to a best buy and get either killzone 2, MLB the show or Infamous for free, since we can't swap out your system for the newer one. Just an FYi

» Haha

That is my best buy it's about 3 miles from me. I will have to go check it out and confirm it.. but I can say that, that best buy is famous for breaking release dates. I picked up GTA4 about 3 days before it was supposed to come out there.

» I suppose retail chains are feeling less loyalty to Sony...

...seeing how they are planning on shutting stores out of software sales when the PSP Go! is rolled out.

» Maybe no more DVD Driver Crash and BD-Driver Crash... I Guess.........

I live in brazil and have no money for PS3 Slim Slimed but when i got money for buy one to me maybe in the end of 2010 have so much miless hehehehe. but i will be waiting...

And go see if PS3S bring to us any Bug, or BD-Driver with freeze or anything i waiting this is not the problem but sony bring this of lon years ago since PS1 with lens of resine defectuos since PS2 dvd driver crash or PS2 Slim with dvd driver burn with excessive hot or PS3 with BD-driver crash cause exaustive hot, weel i dont waint not this in this new PS3 S but.... im not so confident.

» No pictures but...

I can verify that I saw some Slims on the shelf at a Delaware BestBuy I was at on the way home from work. Must be company-wide.

» Confirmed!

confirmed! I went to this exact best buy last night and they have it! not that it means anything to me as i have a launch 60gb. personally I prefer my shiny spiderman logo'd version to a slim anyway. the new logo makes it look like a slim ps2..... and kinda generic.

Are you really sure you want to buy something from best buy?

I guess if you don't mind the annoying extended warranty sales pitches, then refusal to help you if you have a problem with it later.....

That's up to you
