PS3 Pre-order

The rumors are true. And if you do not have a PS3 preorder receipt from Gamestop or EBGames you won't ever get one now. Just 24 hours after the top video game stores announced that they would be accepting PS3 pre-orders from today, Tuesday, October 10 they have sold out. The stores wanted a lump sum of $ 100 for a preorder of Sony's next generation Playstation console which will hit the shelves of North American stores on November 17th this year and only a limited number of PS3 consoles were available for each EBGames/Gamestop store, leading gamers into a mini-lottery that they had a very small chance of winning.

The more addicted gamers from across the US camped out overnight and were first in the stores when they opened to pay their $ 100 deposit and get a place on the golden PS3 pre-order list for the $ 599 60GB version of the console, fighting crowds, and limited supply which ranged from four at a store (in Detroit) to 16 (at a store in Seattle, Washington).

A Gamestop representative told IGN that each store had a quota of "no less than eight pre-orders or up to 16. The number allocated is based on store location and traffic." The rep went on to state that currently pre-orders for PS3 were closed. Currently, there are no pre-orders available in Canada but the representative did say that Canadian PS3 pre-orders will be "available as soon as possible." But surely if no store had less than eight pre-orders, how did that store a Detroit only have four available? Let's hope that it wasn't those dreaded EBGames employees buying all the stock.

Doesnt sound like a very good launch. I doubt Sony are very happy with this.

I doubt Sony wanted to rush the PS3 out the door but I guess they had no choice.

Either way, I'm a PC user, doesn't affect me.

I live in Canada and our pre-orders doesn't start yet. But the head employee at my EBGames told me that today 100 peoples at least have called to reserve one. And with the last 3 months he see that 75% of his costumers are interested to buy a PS3 ASAP.

If your in NY you can go to the Sony store at Madison, But you have to be their at least 24 hours before the stores open. I remember when I went over to get the ps2 I was the last person to acquire one., I fled and took a cab.

I am so excited. I went at 12am and didn't care that the first wave of people came at 5am.... I am SOOO freakin' relieved!!!!!!! !!!!!

for those who have yet to get a ps3, keep checking amazon.com, and check eastluna.com and kbtoys.com near launch date.... Both Eastluna and Amazon allow you to give the your email address to be notified of availability... If you have text messaging, you might be able to do what I did ... I have verizon and my email address for my text messaging is mynumber@vtext.com ... You can then receive emails... so you are on immediate notice...

yup yup, its true. all the gamers in the US of A are waiting for this PS3 preorder. And when it happened only a few lucky one's did manager to reserve. Thank goodness i was able to check qj.net last night hahaha.

my brother fall in line this morning around 4:00AM. and there's like 4 gamestop and 1 electronic boutique in daly city (near san francisco). his #3 in the line...coz some of the stores has 11 people already. and this xbox owner was behind him and the girlfriend #4, #5...planning to sell the PS3 online. hmmm...why folks tried to despise the PS3 and in the long run wants to sell it too. Because if you do that you are promoting the PS3 right? :D anyway, as long as its money they don't care i guess...hehe.

Amazing news for Virtua Fighter 5 fans (believe me)

http://www.hk-vf.net/tv/index.html

This site which is maintained by SEGA Co. has about 3,000 high quality VF5 replays which have been played on the Sega Lindbergh arcade machines in Japan. Sega Lindbergh machines are much powerful than X360 but a bit weaker than PS3. At the site above, the name of replay files are like, FN_02985; and this means it’s 2985th file. They’re adding about 10 new replays every single day. You can also check how good the players are at the start of each round. Some of the world’s best fighting gamers have stats like 2,000 wins 500 losses (against other human players).

I’ll tell you how to download streaming movie files online.

You must have FlashGet (totally free).

After installing it, right mouse click the name of the files (e.g.: SHU(SH)_vs_(SA) 25.5M).

In the ‘property’ you can copy the URL address of the streaming movie file.

javascript:call leftvideo('mms://www.hk-vf.net/vf5_rev.1/SHU_vs_SARAH_04 .wmv')

only pick out the core portion

mms://www.hk-vf.net/vf5_rev.1/SHU_vs_SARAH_04 .wmv

In FlashGet, enter the address and download (press F4) all 3,000 movies you want.

After watching as many as movies you can, you can post feedbacks or small thanks note at QJ here in comment boxes.

I was at school, my mom went at 12:00 (lol) knew she wasn't going to get it unless she was there at least at 8:00, but she had her dang massage appointment (****) so I'm PS3-less, I preo-orderd one on lik-sang to see what place in line I would get, since I can cancel my order anytime and had to put no money down.

I personally think it is really pathetic that people loiter outside a store 48 hours in advance of a launch. If I were a cop I would definitely arrest people for doing that. The stores should stop people from doing that. I think it poses an unfair advantage to American taxpayers that actually have to work or get an education.

Besides, arresting people who camp outside during a launch would probably benefit society, because the only people who "camp out" are usually those on Welfare, ghetto people, or gothic internet gaming nerds.

60gb version +

Ridge Racer 7 preordered.(yeah I know)

Why hate on people who want a PS3?

If you got your system last year, be happy and play it.

Sounds like a bunch of envy to me.

If I had a 360 I would be playing Ridge Racer 6 right now (I know. Don't say it), not in a forum dissing potential PS3 owners.

Is it that bad on the other side?

I hope the Xbox marketplace explodes full of content on Nov 17 so our launch day isn't ruined with negative crap.

First off I don't know why you're callimg me that, because what I said is true. People are willing to buy it for 600. And your point even shoows that people will buy it for more. in what way does Sony fail in this regard?

# Too late...Guest 2006-10-10 16:13
After classes I read QJ and saw the news. It was about 2 in the afternoon so I decided "what the heck, I'll go check to see if there are anymore" knowing that the guys who camped early in the morning probably already reserved theirs and there would be none left. I went, and was disapointed.

It's good news for the PS3 that it will probably sell all units at launch. It sucks for the customers that they have to wait though... what kind of "launch" is that?! :)

Everyone who didn't pre-order, please don't give in and buy off an auction site or something once the launch happens... you'll probably regret it later and it sucks knowing that people are buying these consoles to not actually play, but make their own greedy profit.

# camping outOminatorx 2006-10-10 18:53
To #32, camping out has been going on long before consoles were ever made. I remember doing this in the 70s for concert tickets to go see bands. People did it for the new Star Wars movies. It will never go away. Just because anyone camps out doesn't mean they don't pay taxes, they will pay a sales tax when they buy the thing for one. Your generalization of campers makes you seem pitiful. Wellfare or ghetto people probably have no interest in the PS3. Don't be mad at others because you don't have the same free will as they do. I, for one, am a network contractor. Since I get paid well, I work when I want to so I have a lot of free time.

I did get a 360 on launch but I won't buy a ps3 or wii until next year after they have a descent catalog of games. My 360 sat most of the time because there weren't any games I wanted.

# Get Them while they work...Guest 2006-10-10 21:58
Ppl jumping to get the first units are risking investing in an unfinished product. Sony's been pushing thier relese date back for many reasons, the most prevelant being tech and thier unfamiliarity with it. Simply put...the early units will most likely have to be updated as developers find more ways to fill these blu-rays. But if i find one at a DECENT price id pick it up just for the "i have a ps3" value.

I preordered my preorder two years ago. I was first on the list of 20 people who put down $50 to be the first to be able to pay whatever the additional price (so it would be an additional $80) was to get a preorder when they became available. I know four other people who were on that list and none of us were contacted. When we went in they acted like we were total morons and said "a preorder isn't a guarantee, you still had to be here before the people without preorders." When I asked "then are the PS3 preorders that they're buying a guarantee?" They answered "yes... but that's different." When I asked how it was different, they just gave me a blank stare.

AGGGHH. I HATE GAMESTOP NOW SO MUCH!!!!

ALL OF YOU ARE IDIOTS!

I know 2 manager's at EB/Gamestop and I can tell you this right now: Just because they are sold out on "pre-orders" does not mean it will be a successful launch! WHY? Because this time around, EB and Gamestop decided to put a max quota on how many systems could be pre-ordered so that they didn't run into the same fiasco as last year with the x360. (They gave out up to 200 pre-orders per store for the X360 and got shafted when their weren't enough to go around) In order to avoid that type of situation this year, the quota was limited to 16 per store, so no S.H.I.T they sold out of pre-orders. This was also so that come launch day, both chains will have extra models to sell from the floor. I sometimes wonder if you guys even have an education.

# I almost criedPacos 2006-10-11 01:50
I got to the gamespot in my town yesterday and was # 21 on the pre order for 20 ps3's. I nearly cried(inside at least). Then I found out one of the ebgames about a half an hour from me opened an hour later(11:00AM), so my hopes went up. So, it's about 10:50AM, my gf calls me and tells me she wants to go with me. She takes about 20 minutes to get herself ready and we logicize that since the gamestop where I am sold out in about 20 minutes, that by the time we got there, there would be no PS3's left. Boy was I wrong!

So...we skip out and grab a bite. And she stops by on her way back to college and finds out that they had pre orders available until about 3:30PM. Lord was I upset. I was ready to throw something.

But in the end, its just a gaming system and I can wait. So I will! I'll just save up a bit and hope for a little luck! Just maybe, I might be able to get one before the holidays!
