PS3 sales worry Midway, but Sony will still get some love |

Some publishers have been reported to jump ship from Sony's boat, but Midway is still offering the PS3 full support. You have the timed exclusive title, Unreal Tournament 3 and Stranglehold's "Hard Boiled" movie only on the Blu-ray game disc. These clearly show Midway's love, but CEO David Zucker has expressed some concerns on PS3 sales.
It's all about installed user base, and the PS3 is yet to invade enough households for publishers to feel secure. "We would not be the only publisher to tell you that we're a little concerned about the take-up of the PS3," Zucker told GamesIndustry.biz.
On the bright side, sales have been increasing recently as reported by Sony during E3. Zucker, however, wonders if the price-cuts that led to better sales are sufficient enough. "Anytime you get a hundred dollar price cut on hardware it will improve sales. The question is, is it enough? Will there be more?"
No need to worry though, because we don't see Midway leaving the PS3 anytime soon. Zucker is confident that the built-in Blu-ray player will win hearts of more consumers, and Sony will "be making decisions as and when they need to as they go forth."

the PS3 is doing ok in it's infancy... it just looks bad because of how the Wii is doing... they have to realize that it is a different product and expectations should differ as well.

The system as a whole is well worth the money
Blu ray is winning the format wars
Free online play
less than 1% fail rate
possibility of a DVR attachement
and with Linux being the OS choice of Sony, it only a matter of time for homebrews to be developed for the PS3.
And despite what the Sony haters have been saying, there are really good games coming out for the PS3. The PS3 version of Stranglehold will have a freakin movie in it!

granted that the PS3 sales could be a lot better it seems like some people have unrealistic expectations... it's either they want the PS3 to suddenly be at par with the install base of the XBox 360 suddenly upon release of the PS3 (ignoring the fact that the 360 took some time as well to get the install base it has today) or they are expecting the PS3 to sell like the Wii (well, sorry to say but nothing compares to what the Wii is doing much less from a console three times its price)...
face it the PS3 won't suddenly get to 10million in the blink of an eye (the Wii isn't even there yet!!) and it won't sell as fast as a console which costs a third of it's price... they should temper down their expectations and be more realistic...
by the way Devise (only QJ Xboxer who has my respect), long time no see...
can't wait to see the July numbers along with everyone just to see how that pricecut worked so far.

Plus i feel much safer buying a ps3, than a 360 (not b/c of the red ring of death), but because Microsoft pushed the 360 out a year to soon, and come 3 years from now when its time for a xbox 720, the ps3 hardware will still be strong and they will still have their instal base, which means i wont be having to spend a LOT of money for a new console, b/c my old one will still be supported for a couple of more years (if the ps2 held out s long with its shoddy hardware, think of how the ps3 will be).
After all sony did say that they wanted to extend the ps3 life to 10 years (instead of the industry average of 5) and even if its not 10, but 7-8 its still gonna be worth it

The only reason that the increase happened was because of the price drop and all the people that were holding out for some sort of drop went out and got one.
However, that is only good until around the 12th or so when the new 80gb models come out....my local stores are ditching/returning 60gb models and going with 80 at the outrageous price now...
Which could actually hurt Sony as some people may have saw it was cheap, had to wait till mid-end August for whatever reason, then go out and see that it's super expensive again and they are $100-150 short......They will feel ripped off and angry at SOny, and guess what they will probably buy instead....

And it has nothing to do with a price cut., considering the fact its 600 dollars, wow more idiocy from your xbot fantard mouth. I actually have to agree with Devise over your post, at least he makes more valid points and can hold a conversation than you and MCS.
