PS3 Now 'In Full Swing' |

Heads-up, PS3 fans! According to sources, the PS3 "has officially entered production". It seems that the PS3 is currently in the works, and hopefully, it won't be too long for fans to get their hands on the much-awaited console.Phil Harrison, Sony's president of worldwide studios says that production is in full swing, from a developer's point of view; developer kits have been shipped and the controller is also in developers' hands. Apparently, Sony's got everything set, minus some improvements and modifications. The games, too, are also being tested, as many studios already have Blu-ray burners in their PCs.
So, final version of PS3 hardware? Check. PS3 controller? Check. Games? Check. Release date? Errrrm... Soon? Hopefully, we'll know more when Ken Kutaragi gives his speech at the Tokyo Games show on September 22.

It's about time I heard some good news about the PS3. Can't to get my PS3.
I'll be first in line with a grand or two to spend.
This is good news. Now will gamestop just let me friggin preorder already.

The launch is on nov. 17 does this guy know anything about the ps3 or is he just trying get some moneyby writing a couple paragraphs
i thought it'll be released on nov 11. well who cares. I just hope that the ps3 do well, i don't think they reach de 6 million but maybe the 4-5 million consoles. i hope all of them to sold out , i'll get mine on august 07 ^.^
And I don't think we'll be able to say "Check" to the games until TGS.

Ha ha, nice job # 10, but Sony has said many times that PS3 will last about 10 years, not 6. (I realize this remains to be seen, but hey, the ps2 has a few major exclusive titles coming up for next year: FF 12, FF7 Dirge of Cerberus, GOW2.... so that would make 7 years already for ps2, PS3 may last 10 years)....we shall see...

maybe 7 years! but we will see in some years... SNES won over SEGAs Genesis. Genesis (Megadrive) has had a more then 2x faster processor [Genesis' 7,61 MHz vs SNES' 3.58 MHz] So the history already told: a faster Console doesnt mean better games. And we all know: the console is nothing without games! And what games could Sony build without 3rd party developers? none? (don't know) Nintendo has Samus, Link, Mario, Pokemon, Donkey Kong,..., that brought Nintendo green numbers even in bad times. When Sony looses the 3rd party developers: they have nothing... the xbox at least has Halo.
#13, what's your point? Sony wouldn't have games without third party developers, but why is that even an issue? There ARE plenty of third party devs, who cares what would happen without them?

When they said the ps3 could last ten years, they meant that it supported so many new standards like hdmi, blu-ray and bluetooth etc etc. that it wouldn't be completely outdated for that amount of time. Also, snes did win because of all their games and stuff, but they had a huge brand name and following from the NES as well as securing key 3rd party developers for exclusive games. Not to mention their myriad of different Chips inlcuded in game cartridges for speed.

Worldwide sales SNES: 49 million Genesis: 35 million Compared with - PS2: 105 Million and counting about a million a month Cube: 21 million Apparently some of you don't realize how dominating Sony has been. By the way, what's with the comment "Release date? Errrrm... Soon". I'm guessing you didn't get the Memo. Well I hope you read the various post here that tell you it's coming Nov 11 JP and Nov 17 in the states. The PS2 will last more than 10 years. The PS1 did and PS2 is much stronger (sales wise) than the PS1, the numbers are staggering. It's biggest competitor might just be the Wii in the coming 4 years. Not to insult Nintendo but even though the Wii is a great step in the right direction it just wont be able to compete with MS and Sony on the console front. These guys just have too much marketing power and their machines will wow consumers. I hope the Wii can expand the market and get all types of people playing games like they have done with the DS in Japan, unfortunately the US/EU are less likely to adapt to a new gimmick (don't get angry, gimmick is a not a bad word, look it up). Here's to You Nintendo although I don't necessarily agree with your strategy you are still the best game developer in the world (SquareEnix at a close 2nd for me at least).

I like PS3 and all, But i just havn't seen enough gameplay for games to be excited...I have hardly seen anything worht while on the PS3...MGS4 is about the only good lookign title... I mean come on...."Resistance The fall Of Man"..."Full Auto 2"....lack luster titles if you ask me. Sony needs to have the big guns ready with the starting line up, Full Auto and Madden isn't gonna justify a 600 dollar system.
