Here's some good news for Sony PlayStation 3 fans: Just recently, the PS3 is now listed as Amazon's best-selling console, with the Wii coming in as a close contender.In the list of best popular items in the Video Game category, Xbox 360's Halo 3 came out as the winner, with Sony's 60GB SKU console ranking at second place. The Wii console is listed in the third rank, just beneath the above items. Falling into 21st place is Microsoft's Xbox with 20GB hard drive.
If this list is going to be any indication, it looks like Michael Pachter is going to prove himself right once again in predicting a sunnier future for Sony's next-gen console. Despite the doubts thrown at the PS3's direction, it should be noted that Sony actually has a long-term gameplan. And it looks like whatever it is, they've made the right decision sticking with it.

Wow i thought 360 sales are suppose to pick up as halo release date approaches?

Amazon ranks are too fluid for it to be news when one item is at the top for a couple hours.
Atlhough sales of Halo have appeard to outpace 360 system sales consistently for a couple of week. It doesn't really suprise me thoguh as they are still preorders. If we see system sales from it I would expect them to happen after it is at least reviewed.
Something interesting is that since their latest promotion (about a week) HD-DVD units are selling just a rank or two below the PS3. Which may begin to close the gap with Blu-ray.

All the fps fans probably got the 360 for gears of war already, so it's not surprising that Halo 3 didn't sell that much consoles.
What the hell are you talking about? Halo 3 isnt even out yet. Wait till october than we'll see if it sells consoles or not.
PS3 finally has a game we can all get behind and it's Warhawk. Heavenly Sword is just around the corner and the over hyped Lair is out (I don't absoutely hate Lair but damn they made a lot of intricate things in that game that we all thought would be simplistic).

I knew some little fanboy like you would call me that. For the record I own: 2 PS3, about 40 Blu-ray movies, 10 PS3 games, and no Xbox 360s.
If you've got half a brain you watch the news on both sides. And if you are at all a gamer you hope for both sides to be able to enjoy great games.
less than six weeks after you use a metal can it's ready to use again, as part of a car or a train or another car or a PLAIN, or, another car. your recycled can could become part of your fridge, it could even save the energy to run your fridge, or just possibly it could be another Halo game.
Recycle old rubbish the possibilities are endless.

And of course the 60GB PS3 is selling well, it's still benefitting from the 'clearance sale' price (btw, it's now third again, so obviously the PS3 and Wii are neck and neck).
But let's stop pretending Amazon best sellers represents the sales overall, because if it did, then the PS3 should have outsold the 360 by a HUGE margin last month, and it didn't, despite predictions that it would.
At the time I wrote this post, the 360 is 18th (Premium with HDMI) and 22rd (Elite) and 96th (Premium without HDMI).
The PS3 is 3rd (60GB) and 85th (80GB).
So to compare both, you need to compare ALL 360s in that chart to ALL PS3s in that chart, not just the top sellers! And in this context, the 360 is still probably doing better overall!
Also, as pointed out, the HD-DVD drive for the 360 is in 4th, so what does that tell us? Nothing really, it says as much about HD-DVD as the PS3 in 3rd says about console sales.
So this is good news, but let's stop making it out to be something that it's not please (Sally B). :|

And yet the RROD didn't diminish 360 sales at all last month, they remained above the PS3 in the US for yet another month, and I don;t see that changing for the rest of the year. :|

It's getting good reviews (not spectacular, but good) and PS3 gamers are really enjoying it online. But it's not a system seller, neither is Heavenly Sword. Therefore the increase in PS3 sales is due to the price cut of the 60GB version, not because of any games released. :|

But since the Halo 3 hasn't come out yet it won't pick up until the 25th of this month. Also amazon sellers list always changes so we can't be too sure, but its good for PS3 that its selling good still.
how is this good news for PS3 fans? It's so dumb that people follow sales figures for consoles rather than just enjoying the console they have. ALL of the consoles this time round are doing well enough that developers could consider making games for any of them, so there's no use posting news about *****ing sales figures on one website which actually didn't have an impact on sales overall. This console war is just dumb, people flame others for buying a different console because they're scared they made the wrong choice with theirs.

i generely watch amazon uk, de, com and jap every 2 days or so
there is just one thing that generely accour everytime on amazon.com :
wii shippment reaches amazon --> wii 1st place
1 week after wii shippment --> wii is out of stock for 4-6 days now and is dropping places b/c there are no consoles to sale
---> ps3 gets the cut, that easy
btw xbox360 was i think just one time top console in the last 8 weeks or so on amazon, it was the elite on release
Everybody who has gotten 360 so far are the dying fans waiting for halo 3. im pretty sure most of the people who bought it didnt jump on the core price tag and didnt expect Halo 3 to come out almost 2 years later after the 360s release.
4 million pre orders and no real boost in sales says a lot doesnt it. gears of wars pre orders also reflected the boost in 360 sales why havent we seen any in H3.
like i said when gears had 3 million pre orders it also reflected the sale boost before its release. so far from what i can see since the 360 is noted as a hardcore gamer console most of those pre orders are the ones who own a 360. but if your happy like this when you get the RRoD while playin 6 hours in to Halo3 then your a complete idiot.
Of course the sales figures for the 360 are higher, it's been out a year longer!

Every SINGLE gaming magazine gave that game a 10 out of 10! It's the dopest game out there for sure, and dont forget the 360 has Blue dragon, Mass effect, Halo 3, GTA4, Call of duty 4, which has a beta right now on guess what....>? the 360! so dont count your eggs be4 they hatch. The 360 is the console that will win the console wars, it has the dopest FPS's, RPG's, and lets not forget Resident evil 5 dropping in soon. and also PS3's lack of being unable to use Epics unreal engine 3.
