i think it's because the japanese secretly harbour a resentment towards america, and in the industry where they have the world's leading companies (videogames and nintendo/sony) they won't countenance the idea of spending money on a microsoft (american and the largest most evil corporation out there) console. so they don't...



i guess it's good news for sony and nintendo as then they've at least got a good 150 million people rooting for them.

So I'm with sony but mistwalker...



so this news is GREAT! because mistwalker said it will also put blue dragon ( and it's sequel ) on "another console" and only the ps3 can output enough graphics so... so mistwalker with work another time with sony I just hope they will port blue dragon on the ps3 so we can get it before FFXIII ( like every FF, it'll surely be reported or something, at least in america ). And I also want lost odyssey, but they didn't talked about this one ( june for japan on x360 ). So with the poor sales of xbox 360 in Japan and knowing their sales is mostly in Japan ( JRPG is not that popular in america... people are more stupid and don't wanna think but only "shoot on something". ) I suppose they will put lost odyssey, like blue dragon, also on the ps3 :D, but I hope this one will move fast too, I wanna play them both in 2k7 lol



ps: I bought an xbox 360 and hated it so I returned it back after a week at bestbuy... the wii is looking good, but the ps3 will be my 1st ( with bladestorm )

the Wii is the leading console choice. having almost triple the ps3 launch titles and lesser price, the Wii has been the choice of japanese kids and er adults.

You did realize all the games they compared were ported to ps3 from 360 right? Therefore the comparison tells us absolutley nothing. Wait till more exclusives come out like Lair then compare.

why this is such a hard concept to grasp for some of you.



like a few of you have posted before, it has nothing to do with a culture war. it's the games, pure and simple.



here, i'll try and put it in simple terms:



why didn't you buy a N-Gage? why didn't you buy an Atari Lynx? was it because it was made by a particular culture/race of people?



no. it was because of a lack of games that appealed to you.



the same applies to the Japanese. they aren't big fans of shooters. hell, Resident Evil 4 tricked the Japanese by disquising a shooter with the Resident Evil license.



the problem with most American shooters (i said, "most," not "all"), is that they tend to lack in the story and character development department. two categories the Japanese hold above all else in their games, it seems. there are few exceptions here in America. Half Life is one of them. so is F.E.A.R. and Oblivion (though in Oblivion, the character development and story are what you make of it).



Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are a good step in the right direction, but the PS3 and Wii have the Japanese's attention now. they want what's new and shiny. oddly enough, i actually see 360 sales picking up *next* year, as the early adopters will have settled with their 2005-2006 purchases (ie, a 360, PS3, or Wii), and are looking into a supplementary system to complement the one they bought the year before.



the battle between the PS3 and 360 will be heating up next year, as both parties are preparing to release their heavy hitters throughout the year (Mass Effect, Crackdown, Bioshock and Halo 3 for the 360. but it needs to be noted that they all fall into the shooter category, for the most part. and Heavenly Sword, Monster Kingdom, White Knight Story - possibly a 2007 release and not a 2008 release as originally believed, maybe Final Fantasy XIII, Metal Gear Solid 4, and who knows what else. it should be noted that those types of games heavily appeal to the Japanese taste in gaming).



the issue is balance. something Sony has done very well in walking the past 10 years. they don't heavily rely on just one genre of gaming. even Nintendo fails to walk that balance nowadays, as most of it's titles fall back on their tried and true big three (Mario, Zelda, and Metroid), and they can always rely on the Nintendo faithful to keep them afloat, and Microsoft's focus is on the shooter/FPS genres for the bulk of their titles (once again, i didn't say "all" just the majority of X Box titles fall into the shooter category). the Playstation consoles released thus far offer a wide range of titles, covering every genre, and that's what has won them the console war these past ten years.



Sony's current arch-enemy is lack of consoles available for purchase. next year promises to be very interesting.

AGAIN...bs...where in all the heavens did u get 95% from?....lol...u compare the number of games the lamebox 1.5 (a system that has been out for over a year now) to the ps3 ( out for less than a month) and then say that the lamebox has a larger variety of games...OF COURSE IT DOES!!! it's ture that those side by side comparisons are lazy devs because there is no reason for CoD3 to look like it does with Resistance looking as great as it does. That argument holds no ground what so ever.



The PS3 also just launched are your trying to bust on it for limited games. Atleast they have a game from launch that will be staying around for a long time (Resistance) unlike 360s launch.



A year PS3 will offer a larger genre variety of good games, not the a bunch of junky rehashes of old formulas on the 360 (Saints Row).



Sony still has loads of major exclusives that will propel the console to the top. In the next year PS3 has tons of great titles coming out in different genres like I've already said. 360 has all shooters for its exclusives, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3.



The may have 100s of titles but really nothing that stands out besides GoW.

He goes on to say the main Sony developers are jumping ship. So I guess that's why Virtua Fighter, Metal Gear Solid, Heavenly Sword, Final Fantasy, White Knight Story, Tekken, Ratchet and Clank, Unreal Tournament... do I need to continue... are all staying PS3 exclusive.



PS3 only lost 2 major titles which are now cross platform and 2 mediocre titles. You pounce on that like there is no tomorrow.

You can tell Resistance will be around for awhile if you just take a look at the community that is already there (in less than a month). I'm apart of this community and see it in no way losing steam, partially cause I'm not a moron and have been playing enough online games to figure such things.



Look below at the list of exclusives PS3 still has I believe I've posted them I'll give you a short list though.



Heavenly Sword, Liar, Virtua Fighter, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Ratchet and Clank, Resident Evil, Tekken, White Knight Story, and it continues. Notice the variety in genres



PS3 lost very few exclusives and like an xbot you've used that fodder so much your cannon can't even get the ball out of the barrel.

For a guy with Common Sense he really is misinformed since the new GT will still be coming out for PS3. I'd tell him the real news of what he thinks to be true, but I rather watch him make a fool of himself.
