Let's face it - PS3 motion controller is not a verbally convenient thing to say...or type. Sony still hasn't made an announcement about what they're gonna call that thing. At least Microsoft gave us a working name for theirs. Anyway, the still nameless waggle thingy needs a name and it has become the stuff of rumors to find out what it'll be.

The previous rumor and a few name-drops at TGS 09 had it that the motion controller was to be named "Sphere." The new one says different.

EA CEO John Riccitiello may have prematurely outed the name at the UBS 37th Annual Global Media Conference earlier, where he mentioned another name next to Natal in a motion controller context. "In the coming year, both Sony and Microsoft have announced new controllers. Motion sensor controls, Natal and Gem, these are likely to bring new consumers into the marketplace," he said.

"Gem", huh? It could be what the EA guys call it among themselves, though. We can expect Sony to give it the usual rumor-quash spiel, while EA said they're unable to confirm the remarks' accuracy for now.
