PS3 motion controller back in new demo

It's been a while since we last saw Sony's motion controller, and as big as the publisher's GamesCom conference was, you bet they had a little something-something in it for their E3-unveiled supertoy. Here it is, back in a new demo, the still unnamed motion controller.

What it lacks from the previous demonstration was that this one had no live presentations, which sucks since that is what shows the power and accuracy of the device. It does, however, give us a bigger glimpse of the "games" and features that the motion controller would possibly work with when it comes out.

Looking pretty good.

there will probably be a package sale for the eye and controller. probably cheaper than buy eye now, then buy controller later. least i hope so. lol

» nice but!!!

i have a ps eye but i think sony should drop a new version with a higher resolution its not as clear as it should be since im playing on a high def tv if anyone feels the same let me know...

The camera is able to track movement at 120fps and you cannot do that if the resolution is too high (not without making the camera $200).

So in order to be able to detect very small movements the ps eye needs to have a high framerate and low resolution. Also, the reason it is grainy is because it has a very sensitive sensor, so that it can work well in very low lighting.

Remember every claim this video makes. Refer back to it when the controller comes out. Then remember all the other times Sony has made promises it couldn't deliver, when it comes to hardware.

Hmmmm, I am not sure about that, Sony is very good at delivering on the hardware side. I think it's the software side that they promise and under-deliver on.

Like a music/movie download service for the PSP across all territories....which we have yet to see but was talked about so long ago I can't even remember.

It seems from the video that they actually have some software already running with this device....I think it will come about. It just depends on how many people buy the hardware which will dictate how many games are released for it.

» Software promises.

I also remember talks about using a PS3 to convert Blu-Ray movies to a PSP format. Haven't heard anything recently though.

» @ TheRockness

Blu-ray movies that say "includes digital copy" on the box are the psp versions that you are talking about. No need to convert anything, just copy it off the disc to your psp using the ps3.

» ... What?

"I am not sure about that, Sony is very good at delivering on the hardware side."

Remember when they said the PS2 was so powerful that it could render the muscles in a boxer's arm moving under the skin in real time? Yeah. Didn't so much "happen" as "not happen".

Sony is all about writing checks their hardware can't cash.

» hmm..

im not really sure if it is really, but i think i saw someone bashing a viva pinata horse?..

I would think that the PS2 could do that, but it probably wouldn't be able to do much more at the same time.

by FreePlay - 2009-08-19 23:09
» Exactly.

They're all about showing off amazing tech demos that could never be actual games.

» This was announced

Hi ppl :)

this had already been announced for a few years ago as for the ps2 hardware. when I find the website, I put here. We are all accustomed to the publicity machine sony. I am not saying that is bad. Only could be better even with the current hardware of the ps3.

Excuse me for my English.

cheers:]

» @TheDude

Actually the digital copy can be imported to Quicktime or Windows Media player. You then have to convert it to PSP format. I'm talking about not having to pay extra for the digital copy and being able to use the PS3 to actually covert to digital copy. I'm fully capable of converting DVD's to divx and what not to play things on my PSP, but it would have been neat to be able to use my PS3.
