PS3 Matrjoska ad to make you go ...whuuut? |

Created by TBWA Madrid, the print ad is titled "Matrjoska" - an obvious reference to the Matryoshka dolls from Russia. You've probably seen those somewhere before - if any of you played Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner on the PS2, it's those dolls Rasputin used to trap demons with (click here for boxart - Rasputin's on the right side).
So what does this print ad really say about the PS3? That, beneath layers and layers of flesh, there's a sexy, athletic lady inside all of us? It's as good a guess as any. Print ads and all kinds of advertising are always open to interpretation.
Gimme your best shot now; what's your call? Because really, I'm curious to see how crazily diverse you guys can get with your own interpretations.

Or simply the 45nm chip? Anyway, I always hated their ads. It's like throwing their money in the toilet... Nobody check them BUT those who are alraedy fans...
Anyway, I suppose the slim model will pop just for the holidays, this would outsell all other consoles since japanese always wait for the slim versions, or even buy another of the same console just to have the slim, lol. The slim, with a price cut, would own the holidays. Still, it's hard to say since they didn't even talk about it, and sony is not pretty good with the secrets.
Maybe it's an ad to make fat men believe that when they buy a PS3, they'll become a sexy girl ...
Maybe it's an announcement for the future support of .mkv Video files (+ Matroska container) which is used for HD Rips ...

Anyway, my interpretation is that under that big ugly box that the PS3 is, there exists a beautiful architecture that can deliver the best graphics and physics.
Another interpretation is that the PS3 has been getting better over time. At first it was slow and clumsy, but now that the best exclusives are coming out on the PS3, and with HOME and Life with Playstation, the PS3 is now more "fit".
From my back ground in advert and graphic design, I would say that it shows the gamer is no longer the big fat nerd but rather a larger and more cultural user base. "No more do you need be afraid of gaming, even cute oriental girls are doing, you can to you Spanish people!"
But then, I am a bartender now, so that shows what I know ;)

the message i got from this ad is "there's always a hot chick inside every decapitated fat man in the desert."
umm. riiight. LOL
this ad bothers me a thousand times over. but it's still cool i guess... whatever message it's trying to communicate to us. shrug
